Playing Nintendo Switch Games on Switch 2 Through Backwards Compatibility Will Offer Better Experience – Nintendo

According to Nintendo’s Technical Director Takuhiro Dohta, as reported by Truno from ResetEra, playing Switch games on the new Switch 2 using its backward compatibility features is expected to provide a more enhanced gaming experience compared to playing the same titles on the original Switch.

In response to a query about whether newer technology could improve games initially designed for the Nintendo Switch, Dohta explained that these games would run smoother with reduced load times and improved overall stability. Moreover, he highlighted the GameChat feature of the anticipated Switch 2 as an additional advantage for playing these titles on the upgraded console.

Dohta stated, ‘When we tested playing Switch games on the Switch 2, some games had noticeably faster loading times and improved performance, suggesting a better overall gaming experience. Additionally, as previously mentioned, GameChat will be compatible with Switch 2 versions of existing games. This means that even older games can be updated to offer enhanced gameplay experiences.’ He also added, ‘We designed the Switch 2 with the intention of providing a platform for new games specifically created for it. We believe people purchase new hardware to play these exclusive titles, so we’ve made sure to optimize Switch 2 for them.’

Information concerning the Nintendo Switch 2 was disclosed in a recent dedicated Direct event for its upcoming release. Scheduled to arrive at retailers on June 5, the Nintendo Switch 2 will debut along with numerous games, among them the latest installment of Mario Kart World.
