As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia unveiled a heartwarming commercial for PlayStation’s 30th anniversary on December 3, 2024. This momentous occasion was made even more memorable by the debut of “PLAYERS,” an emotional ballad penned by the talented Japanese pop duo YOASOBI.
The idea behind the commercial stems from “Project: MEMORY CARD,” and it’s about preserving cherished PlayStation moments through music. This unique tune was crafted using memories submitted by users to Sony Interactive Entertainment, gathered on a dedicated website. You can now listen to this song across multiple streaming platforms.
In this advertisement, the characters Maru (played by Nanase Nishino), Peke (Pekora Usuda, a Virtual YouTuber), and Ki-3 (KIYO, a game streamer) are playfully exploring Maru’s grandfather’s antique store. They stumble upon an enigmatic Memory Card. Inserting it into an original PlayStation sets them on the “Play Has No Limits” train ride, taking them on thrilling tours through various video game landscapes, resembling a roller coaster adventure.
