Granted, the ‘best game’ label can be controversial, but with titles like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Split Fiction, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Schedule I all vying for the title, this new release certainly holds its own. And the cherry on top? It’s free to play on PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium!
In simple terms, the highest-rated video game in 2025, as per Metacritic, is “Blue Prince”, scoring 92 points. The only other 2025 game that surpassed a score of 90 on Metacritic was “Split Fiction” with a score of 91. Until the launch of Blue Prince, Split Fiction held the title of the highest-rated game of 2025.
Blue Prince is currently included for free in both PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium memberships, but it won’t be available for free with just the basic PS Plus Essential plan. It’s uncertain how long Blue Prince will continue to be free on these plans, so subscribers should enjoy it while they can. Once Blue Prince is no longer part of the libraries for PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium, members of those tiers will need to purchase the game separately if they want to keep playing it, just like everyone else does.
