Some disgruntled PlayStation Plus subscribers have decided to cancel their memberships in an attempt to convey their dissatisfaction with Sony’s PlayStation subscription service. Since its debut during the PS3 era, PS Plus has undergone significant transformations. Initially, it was primarily used for online gaming and was completely free. As time passed, they started offering monthly free games, and during the PS4 generation, Sony began charging for the subscription. The most recent development occurred with the arrival of the PS5, as PS Plus shifted from a single-tier to a multi-tier subscription model.
Initially, Sony introduced a free PS Plus service, but over time, they began charging for it and gradually increased the prices. Now, the least expensive option is a monthly fee of $9.99 or a yearly subscription of $79.99. On the other hand, the most expensive plan requires a monthly payment of $17.99 or an annual payment of $159.99.
It’s clear that the rising prices and the fear of missing out (FOMO) are causing discomfort among subscribers, as evidenced by a recent post on the PlayStation Plus Reddit page. This post, which has garnered significant attention, discusses a subscriber canceling their subscription after 15 years due to these issues. The post has struck a chord with PlayStation fans, not just because of its popularity on the Reddit page, but also because of the numerous comments expressing similar sentiments.
For the first time in almost 15 years, I cancelled my PS+ subscription and let it run out.

1st Comment: “They can include me in their list!”
2nd Comment: “I agree with you! I’ve had it since its launch on the PS3, and I only recently cancelled it in January. I have so many physical games that I rarely play the free games, and I’m not into online gaming.
People who regularly visit the Reddit page for PlayStation Plus are likely familiar with these posts increasing in frequency. Whether they signal a significant drop in subscriber numbers is yet to be determined. However, what they do suggest is that some dedicated PlayStation enthusiasts aren’t satisfied with the recent changes and developments of PlayStation Plus, which has undeniably evolved to suit a post-Xbox Game Pass environment.
After making these points, as usual, don’t hesitate to share your thoughts below. If you’re interested in more updates about PlayStation Plus, such as the newest news, rumors, leaks, and deals, follow this link.
