PlayStation State of Play for September 2024 Finally Announced

PlayStation State of Play for September 2024 Finally Announced

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt and countless hours spent exploring virtual worlds, I can’t help but feel a familiar thrill of anticipation as Sony prepares for another State of Play broadcast. With five years of September showcases under their belt, it’s become like a beloved annual tradition – a gaming Christmas if you will.

Finally, it’s officially confirmed that Sony will host a new PlayStation State of Play broadcast towards the end of September 2024. There have been whispers and reports for over a month hinting at the possibility of this event happening in September. Given that Sony has held a State of Play or PlayStation Showcase event in this month consecutively for five years, it seemed likely we’d see another one this year too. Now, with all the speculation behind us, Sony has released details about the live stream.

Just as anticipated, the upcoming State of Play will take place tomorrow, September 24th, with streaming starting at 6pm Eastern Time/3pm Pacific Time. The event, as usual, can be viewed on YouTube and Twitch in both English and Japanese. On this occasion, Sony has announced that they aim to showcase approximately 20 games across the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 platforms. This specific State of Play is rumored to last for over half an hour. Beyond these details, no additional information was disclosed.

In the build-up to this upcoming showcase, there have been a few hints suggesting potential announcements from PlayStation. Only recently, the ESRB disclosed a remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn for PS5, which could very well be unveiled at the event. Moreover, whispers abound that PlayStation is also developing a remaster of Days Gone; whether we’ll see either or both of these games during the presentation tomorrow remains to be seen.

It’s quite likely that Japanese video game studios will receive significant attention during State of Play, given that the Tokyo Game Show 2024 is scheduled for this week’s end. Since many developers attending the convention plan to reveal their upcoming games with fresh trailers or gameplay previews beforehand, it seems logical to spotlight these titles in advance.

Of course, don’t forget to keep an eye on our updates right here at ComicBook! We’ll share all the fresh news from the State of Play event as soon as it unfolds.
