Pokemon Champions Lets Players Alter Pokemon Stats, Here’s How It Works

Following the initial unveiling of Pokemon Champions, The Pokemon Company has kept a low profile regarding their new competitive game. However, during today’s July Pokemon Presents, fans were given a closer look at Pokemon Champions. Alongside fresh gameplay clips, The Pokemon Company disclosed a 2026 release date for the combat-focused title on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. Additionally, we now have a clearer understanding of how players can acquire and train Pokemon within the game, as well as adjusting their stats.

As a dedicated Pokémon fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming release of Pokémon Champions! This exciting new adventure allows me to move my cherished Pokémon from Pokémon Home into the game for epic battles ahead. However, if your collection isn’t as extensive due to not having played previous main series games or Pokémon Go, don’t fret! The game offers an opportunity to try out and even recruit fresh new Pokémon directly within Champions, so you can start your journey without needing Pokémon Home or prior teams.

After organizing your Pokemon squad, you’ll have three distinct types of fights to engage in:

1. In the competitive ranked mode, you’ll go head-to-head with other trainers for a challenging experience.
2. For practice without the stress, there’s an unranked casual battle mode available.
3. Lastly, you can challenge your friends and family to a private fight in a dedicated game room.

In the game Pokemon Champions.

In addition to capturing or switching Pokemon for various types of battles, the game offers a new way to enhance Pokemon abilities through training. This revised system aims to be “more adaptable and user-friendly than before,” enabling you to tailor your Pokemon’s moves and stats using an innovative training method. This fresh approach may differ slightly from what traditional Pokemon players are accustomed to.

How Pokemon Recruitment & Training Work in Pokemon Champions

If you’re not moving Pokemon from Pokemon Home, there are two methods to recruit new Pokemon. The initial method is called the Trial Recruitment period, which allows trainers to temporarily use newly added Pokemon to assess their compatibility with current battle tactics.

If you enjoy the design of that particular Pokemon, you have the option to include it in your team on a long-term basis. Keep in mind that this action requires Victory Points (VP), which is the game’s internal currency. These points can be accumulated through Ranked Battles and other diverse strategies, as suggested by The Pokemon Company.

The Victory Points serve as crucial elements for Pokemon development too. By utilizing these in-game resources, you can modify various aspects of your Pokemon, such as boosting stats like HP, Attack, Defense, and so forth, thus enhancing their power. Moreover, you can customize a Pokemon’s moveset and tweak their Stat Alignment, which appears to be reminiscent of Natures from previous games.

In the year 2026, gamers can look forward to the launch of Pokemon Champions on Nintendo Switch, iPhone (iOS), and Android devices. Although the specific release date remains a mystery, it’s confirmed that we’ll be able to play this upcoming Pokemon title next year.
