Pokemon Go Adding New Mega Evolution and New Shiny in July Events

As a dedicated Pokemon Go player with years of experience under my belt, I’m thrilled to share that July is shaping up to be an exciting month for us Steel-type enthusiasts! The upcoming Strength of Steel event starting on July 25th promises an abundance of Steel-type Pokemon, including the elusive Shiny Togedemaru.

By the halfway mark of July, Pokemon Go enthusiasts have plenty left to anticipate before the month concludes. The upcoming event, titled “Strength of Steel,” begins next week on July 25th at 10 a.m., lasting until July 30th at 8 p.m. local time. True to its name, this event will mainly focus on Steel-type Pokemon, featuring Magnemite, Ferroseed, and Aron in the wild. In addition, players will encounter Togedemaru for the first time, and excitingly, have the chance to discover its Shiny variant.

Togedemaru can be encountered not only in the natural world but also through one-star Raids and Field Research tasks. Regarding Field Research, completing it during the event will reward players with Steel-type Mega Energy, which can be used for Pokémon like Mega Steelix, Mega Scizor, and Mega Aggron.

What Does Shiny Togedemaru Look like?

Many Pokemon Go players aren’t thrilled about Shiny Pokemon with colors resembling their standard versions, including the Shiny Togedemaru. Unfortunately, this Shiny version doesn’t deviate much from its original appearance. The primary change is that the gray area on Togedemaru’s back transforms into a lighter tan shade. Additionally, the dark brown spikes on its body are slightly lighter, while the yellow spikes remain unaltered. Here is an illustration of Shiny Togedemaru from Pokemon Sword and Shield below.

Mega Lucario Raid Day

At the Strength of Steel extravaganza in Pokemon Go, players have an additional reason to be excited: a Raid Day event is scheduled. The Mega Lucario Raid Day is slated for Saturday, July 27th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., local time. For the very first time, Mega Lucario will make its appearance in Pokemon Go, and players can anticipate a higher probability of discovering a Shiny one. Unlike Togedemaru, the Shiny form of Lucario presents a striking contrast with its regular version, boasting a golden hue similar to Shiny Riolu.

At this particular event, Niantic is raising the maximum number of Remote Raids from sixteen to twenty. This news is certain to bring joy to those players intending to attend Raids on location, as they will now have an opportunity to earn an additional five Raid Passes just by spinning the Photo Discs at Gyms. The Lucario that emerges from these Raids will be equipped with the special move Force Palm. This Fast Attack boasts a power of thirteen in trainer battles and nine when utilized in gyms and raids.
