Pokemon Go Fans Disappointed by Lack of Valentine’s Day Treats

Players of Pokemon Go have grown accustomed to certain traditions over time, and one such tradition is the heart-shaped celebration on Valentine’s Day. This event is something that trainers eagerly anticipate every year. However, as February 14th rolled out across different time zones in 2025, it became apparent that Niantic does not seem to have any plans to reintroduce the Heart Shaped Furfrou or celebrate Valentine’s Day in any discernible way.

For Valentine’s Day in Pokemon Go, there are usually a few traditions centered around hearts, and this year, fans were hoping to see at least one of these traditions return. Typically, during the Valentine’s Day weekend, players have encountered special Spinda with heart-shaped patterns on their faces, more frequent spawns of Luvdisc, and even the option to transform Furfrou into its heart trim form. While not all three events have occurred every year, most Pokemon Go event schedules in February have included something heart-shaped or pink for players to catch. However, in 2025, it appears that there won’t be much of this tradition.

It seems that Niantic opted against providing Valentine’s Day special items for players this year. However, it’s worth noting that the Love Cup made its comeback in 2025, following a hiatus in 2024. This Go Battle League event highlights Pokemon with pink and red colors, symbolizing Valentine’s Day. But many gamers prefer to focus on collecting rather than PvP competition. As a result, the absence of any heart-themed spawns in Pokemon Go during this Valentine’s weekend has left some fans disappointed.

Where are Heart Trim Furfrou and Heart Face Spinda, Niantic?

As a dedicated Pokémon Go player, I’ve noticed a buzz among fellow trainers about missing heart-shaped Pokémon spawns across various social media platforms. It might seem trivial, but for those of us aiming to complete our Pokedex by collecting all the Furfrou forms, the usual February appearance was crucial, as it would fill that last spot. Typically, several Furfrou forms are available throughout the year, but only on Valentine’s Day can we transform our Furfrou into the Heart Trim form. However, when I tried to change my Furfrou’s form in Pokémon Go recently, the option didn’t appear, which has left many of us suspecting that Niantic might not be offering it this year.

Many players are disappointed they’re missing out on the chance to find the Shiny Heart Spinda, which is typically available during Valentine’s Day. In past years, Spinda has appeared in the wild as a special version to commemorate this day of love. However, this year, it seems that not a single one of these special Spindas have been spotted in the wild, leading some fans to speculate that the game developers have somehow overlooked or ignored Valentine’s Day this time around. Despite the lack of any official announcement suggesting nothing would change, there remains a lingering hope among fans for an unexpected return of past Valentine’s Day spawns and perhaps even Furfrou events.

The “Pokémon Go” event known as the Beloved Buddies, held from February 11th to February 15th, carries a hint of affection in its title. But unlike what fans anticipated, the highlighted Pokémons don’t match their expectations. Some hoped that Niantic would introduce additional wild spawns or allow Furfrou transformations during this event, in line with the ongoing festivities. Unfortunately, it seems these wishes are not coming true, despite how much “Pokémon Go” enthusiasts yearn for a token of affection from Niantic.
