A recently created poll by fans aims to shed light on an intriguing aspect of the popular augmented reality game, Pokémon GO: how players toss their curveballs. This mobile title encourages Pokémon enthusiasts to venture out into the real world and catch pocket monsters in their local areas. The capture process is straightforward, involving players flicking Poké Balls at their targets and crossing their fingers for success. To enhance the experience, the game lets players twist the ball before throwing it, resulting in a curveball.
A Reddit user known as Mixnnie, who is an enthusiastic player of ‘Pokémon GO’, posed a question to the community: “How do you throw a Curveball?” To gather insights from fellow gamers, another user named NobleCuriosity3 created a survey. Over 1,500 fans participated in this poll, sharing their preferences for curveball technique and dominant hand. From the collected data, it is now apparent which way most players rotate their Poké Balls when trying to capture wild Pokémon, providing an answer to the long-standing query among ‘Pokémon GO’ players.
Pokémon GO Players Have A Preferred Direction For Their Curveballs
The Winner Remains The Same Regardless Of Hand Dominance
As of now, the majority of Pokémon GO players tend to throw a curveball in a counterclockwise direction, which might come as a surprise since players’ dominant hand doesn’t seem to affect their choice. In fact, both right-handed and left-handed players prefer spinning the Poké Balls in a counter-clockwise motion. The poll reveals that 918 players choose to spin the balls counter-clockwise, while only 547 opt for a clockwise spin. (It appears I’m part of the minority who spins it clockwise!).
It’s worth noting that while this poll isn’t a definitive study on the topic, it does suggest a clear trend. For one, multiple votes from the same person could potentially impact the results, although there’s no compelling reason for anyone to do so. Additionally, since the voting is ongoing, the numbers might shift as more fans cast their votes. Nevertheless, with almost double the number of people favoring a counterclockwise spin over clockwise, it appears that this is the preferred direction among players.
Why Throw Curveballs In Pokémon GO?
Curveballs Are High Risk, High Reward
In Pokémon GO, throwing a curveball can be tricky since the ball’s trajectory is less predictable when you spin it. Spinning clockwise makes the ball veer right, while spinning counter-clockwise causes it to go left. However, mastering this technique can pay off handsomely, as it increases your capture rate and grants additional experience points. Moreover, curveballs are crucial for completing many Research Tasks, making it essential to learn how to throw them effectively.
It’s fortunate that the game allows players to decide which way they prefer to rotate Poké Balls. Many gamers may find one rotation direction more convenient and intuitive than another, and often continue spinning in that chosen direction. Through a fan survey posted on Reddit, we have discovered that the majority of Pokémon GO players tend to favor spinning the balls in a counter-clockwise motion.
