In the world of Pokemon enthusiasts, the pursuit of Shinies didn’t gain much traction until the launch of Pokemon Go. Contrasted to the main series games, hunting for Shinies is generally more straightforward in Pokemon Go. Lately, the game has been emphasizing this reputation, as there have been an increasing number of events featuring enhanced Shiny odds. Now, Shiny hunters have another date to anticipate on their calendars to aid in completing their Pokedex. The recently announced Sweet Discoveries event, starting from April 24th, brings additional Shiny boosts together with the debut of an exciting new Galarian Pokemon.
The Sweet Discoveries celebration introduces Applin, known as the Apple Core Pokémon, along with its evolutions, Flapple and Appletun, on April 24th. Unlike many previous debuts, Applin will be a new Wild Encounter, appearing more frequently during the event from April 24th to April 29th. However, this wild appearance will differ due to a new mechanism that’s also being introduced in Pokémon Go with the Sweet Discoveries Event.
Due to Applin’s distinctive evolution process, the game Pokemon Go is introducing a novel item: apples. From the Sweet Discoveries event onwards, players will stumble upon these apples scattered around in the wild. Interacting with these apples on the map can result in finding Sweet Apples, Tart Apples, or an encounter with Applin itself. The Sweet and Tart apples serve as a new special evolution item for Applin, allowing it to evolve into either Flapple (requiring 20 Tart Apples) or Appletun (requiring 20 Sweet Apples). Additionally, the evolution process calls for 200 Applin candies, so players might want to take advantage of this event to capture as many Applin as they can. As with most recently added Pokemon in Pokemon Go, Applin cannot yet be Shiny at this time.

If any of these Pokemon are still on your Shiny list, it’s a great idea to dedicate some time to the game during this period. Additionally, eggs hatched during this event will have a reduced 1/2 hatch distance, making it easier and faster to collect those elusive Shinies!
This upcoming event will present not only Applin-themed avatar accessories but also additional perks such as extra Candy for capturing Pokemon. You’ll find both free and paid Time-limited Research, along with multiple Field Research missions. In summary, this event is jam-packed with exciting activities, making it a must-see if you have any interest in the mentioned Pokemon whatsoever.
