2025 is shaping up to be a great year for Pokémon Go fans like me, as we’ve just learned that the first Community Day of the new year will feature Sprigatito! If you’re wondering what the December event could be, it might follow the pattern set this past weekend and serve as a make-up event. That means we’ve got 10 more Pokémon up for grabs to receive the Community Day treatment next year!

It’s quite challenging to reach a consensus among fans when there are over 1,000 Pokemon in the franchise. However, many intriguing ideas have come from the player community. For instance, some have proposed Lechonk, Gimmighoul, and Smoliv, all of which can be found in Pokemon Go, making them plausible options. Additionally, Pawniard has been suggested by several players as a means to introduce Kingambit.

Despite differing opinions among players, there was a consensus on one particular Pokemon they wanted: Mimikyu. This Ghost/Fairy-type character is yet to appear in Pokemon Go, which is unusual given the number of Alolan Pokemon that have been introduced into the game recently. It’s even more intriguing when you consider the widespread popularity of Mimikyu, as evidenced by its influence on avatar items and costumed Pokemon. Could 2025 be its year, with a possible appearance in a Community Day? For now, fans can only speculate!

Although Sprigatito is currently the only Pokemon confirmed for a Community Day this year, it seems likely that we’ll also have events featuring Fuecoco and Quaxly in 2025. These Pokemon were frequently requested in comments on X/Twitter, and they appear to be strong candidates. Historically, Niantic has given Community Day treatment to all starting Pokemon from a region within a single year. In 2024, the Alolan starters – Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio – were all featured, while in 2023, the Kalos starters – Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie – received their own events. While we don’t know how the Paldean starters will be distributed, it’s reasonable to assume that each one will have its own event.

After the Sprigatito Community Day on January 5th, there’s a Community Day Classic event scheduled for January 25th, followed by the season’s last Community Day on February 9th. Keep an eye out for more information about the upcoming Community Day Classic event in the coming weeks!
