As a seasoned gamer with decades of Pokemon adventures under my belt, I must admit, the announcement of the Pokemon Go Wild Area 2024 event has me jumping for joy! Ever since Toxtricity made its debut in Pokemon Sword and Shield, it’s been one of my top picks, and now it’s finally coming to Pokemon Go!
A significant Pokémon Go event titled “Pokémon Go Wild Area 2024” has been revealed, similar to previous events like the Pokémon Go Fest and Pokémon Go Tour. This upcoming event will consist of both a physical gathering in Fukuoka, Japan, followed by a global online event a week later. While specifics about Pokémon Go Wild Area are scarce at present, it’s confirmed that Toxel and Toxtricity, along with their Shiny variants, will make their debut within the game. Given the enthusiasm surrounding Toxtricity since its introduction in Pokémon Sword and Shield, many players should be delighted about its imminent appearance in Pokémon Go!

One of the highlights of this event is that players can expect to find “unusually powerful” Electric and Poison-type Pokemon. At the end of the trailer, a brief glimpse is shown of a Poke Ball shrouded in black. Niantic has confirmed that Safari Balls will be making their debut, which will “improve your odds” of catching some of the strong Pokemon that will appear. How you obtain those Safari Balls has not been revealed, but the items were a staple of the Safari Zone location in the mainline games. During the event, it seems we can expect to see Toxel and Toxtricity in Max Raids, as well.
The live event is scheduled for November 16th and 17th, whereas the worldwide event occurs on the 23rd and 24th. You can purchase tickets for this event from the game’s store at $11.99 each. Please be aware that the current description in the store may contain errors, as it appears to be last year’s Go Fest event description. Ticket holders will instead receive items such as an Incubator and a Max Particle Pack. If you purchase the ticket and play the game between October 15th and the 22nd, you’ll also gain access to special Timed Research that provides an early chance to obtain a Toxel mask avatar item.
Tickets for the Global event are live right now, but tickets for the in-person event have not gone on sale just yet. With the event still over a month away, we should start to get more information in the coming weeks.
