Pokemon Horizons Season 2 is Coming to Netflix: Watch

As a seasoned gamer and Pokémon enthusiast who has been following the adventures of Ash Ketchum and Pikachu for what feels like forever (okay, it’s been 25 years), I can say with confidence that the arrival of Liko and Roy in Pokemon Horizons is a breath of fresh air. While I was initially skeptical about the departure from the familiar duo, these new trainers have proven themselves worthy to carry the torch.

In the Pokemon world, even though Ash Ketchum and his loyal Pikachu may not be around anymore, the story continues to progress into the future. A new series titled “Pokemon Horizons” introduces two fresh trainers named Liko and Roy, who are trying to make their own mark following in Ash’s footsteps. The show has been airing new episodes regularly in Japan, and selected installments have been periodically added to Netflix for those of us catching up. Excitingly, both Liko and Roy will be back for the second season of Pokemon Horizons, which is set to hit Netflix soon – not as far away as some fans might think!

The initial season of “Pokemon Horizons” is still ongoing on Netflix, with Liko and Roy’s introduction wrapping up in a few days on November 22nd. For the upcoming second season, titled “The Search for Laqua,” you can expect it to premiere on February 7th, 2025. Despite not striving to become world champions with their Pokemon, Liko and Roy have faced trials that are as daunting as those experienced by Ash Ketchum and his companions throughout their anime journey over the years. Although they don’t encounter Team Rocket, the Explorers have proven to be quite a challenge instead.

In the second season, Netflix presents a new summary revealing Liko and Roy’s escapades. They traverse the globe seeking the last Six Hero Pokémon and the legendary land of Laqua, while also encountering a fresh hurdle: Tera Training! Their travels take them through Paldea, where Liko, Roy, and Dot refine their Terastallization abilities and confront the region’s formidable Gym Leaders. As the Rising Volt Tacklers, Liko, Roy, and their group continue their quest to find the Six Heroes, including the enigmatic black Rayquaza. Meanwhile, they and the Explorers compete to unlock the mysteries of Terapagos, ultimately uncovering the clues that will guide them towards Laqua.

The Poke-Hype is Real

In an interview with Variety, The Pokemon Company’s Vice President of Marketing and Media, Taito Okiura, shared their thoughts on the upcoming return of Pokemon Horizons on Netflix, “Pokémon Horizons: The Series’ represents everything fans love about the beloved Pokémon animation, including themes of exploration, friendship and teamwork that resonate with fans around the world. Season 2 will see Liko and Roy encounter more fun adventures, and we can’t wait for Trainers to tune in to more captivating stories featuring lovable characters and Pokémon.”

In Japan, the anime series “Pokemon Horizons” has just completed its 75th episode and shows no signs of slowing down. Although the executives in charge haven’t explicitly ruled out Ash’s return at some point, they seem fully committed to Liko and Roy as the main characters for now. It will be intriguing to observe if these new trainers can maintain their leading roles for as long as Ash or pass on the torch to fresh trainers who can further explore the world of Pokemon. With a rich history of stories spanning several decades, fans of Pokemon have plenty of reasons to rejoice all around.
