Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Giving Out Birthday Surprises Now, but Not for Everyone

As a seasoned Pokémon trainer with decades of catching ’em all under my belt, I must say that this latest giveaway for Tandemaus in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has got me pretty excited! It’s not every day you get a chance to add a unique birthday-themed Pokémon to your collection, especially one with a special move like Celebrate.

In the games Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which have been around for almost two years now, giveaways are quite frequent. However, The Pokemon Company has recently initiated a unique type of giveaway that they haven’t done before. Unlike previous giveaways offering competitive scene-related or time-limited Pokemon, this new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet giveaway is connected to players’ birthdays and will be available for a full year. The only condition is that, similar to many engaging Pokemon events and giveaways, this Pokemon Scarlet and Violet distribution is restricted to specific regions.

The distributed Pokemon is a Tandemaus adorned with a birthday ribbon and equipped with an exclusive move called “Celebrate”. This unique ability is typically found only on Pokemon acquired through birthday events or past competitive connections. Its function is to drop a present from the sky, revealing that your Tandemaus was inside the gift all along, eager to celebrate its new ownership. Although not very useful in combat, given its rarity, it’s an attractive addition for collectors of Pokemon.

If you’re a Pokémon enthusiast who’s keen on adding these unique Tandemaus variants to your collection, it might prove challenging unless you have travel plans within the next year or so. Currently, the distribution of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is exclusive to Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore, and obtaining a code requires visiting a physical Pokémon Center in person. It appears that this giveaway is direct-to-player, meaning codes aren’t being shared, so buying one won’t be an option either. Your best bet for acquiring one would be through trading or by personally visiting the location, but you have until around November of next year to do so since the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet giveaway is scheduled to last approximately a year.

For some time now, The Pokemon Company has been distributing special Pokemon for various games on birthdays. However, the current offer featuring Tandemaus is a bit different from the usual. Previously, Eevee was distributed and its evolutions followed suit in subsequent years. Now, it’s Tandemaus’ turn to be the special distribution.

Tandemaus isn’t particularly outstanding in combat, except for its special move called Population Bomb. However, it has an unusual evolutionary path. Normally, Tandemaus evolves into Maushold, which further evolves into a group of four mouse Pokémon. But there’s a very small probability that it will evolve into a three-mouse Maushold instead. It would be interesting if a Tandemaus received on its birthday always evolved into the three-mouse form, but I doubt that will happen.
