A fresh distribution has been revealed for the games Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and once more, developers are honoring a VGC (Video Game Champions) champion. At the North America International Championships, participants will receive an Incineroar modeled after the one used by Wolfe Glick. This Pokemon will perform the moves Protect, Parting Shot, Fake Out, and Flare Blitz, similar to Glick’s Incineroar that won the Europe International Championships in February. The Pokemon will also be carrying the Partner Ribbon, making it known as “Wolfe’s Incineroar.
The NAIC event is scheduled from June 13th to 15th, and during this stream, a distribution code for the Incineroar will be shared. This distribution is exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and unlike other Mystery Gift distributions, it has a narrow redemption window. The code can only be redeemed until June 20th at 4:59 PM Pacific Time.
Choosing an Incineroar distribution as a tribute to Glick is quite amusingly ironic, considering that Glick, a well-known competitor and content creator, has been vocally critical of Incineroar in the past. He’s even gone so far as to label it his fourth most detested Pokémon in a video last year. Glick has spent considerable time discussing how Incineroar’s Fire and Dark-type combination, along with its move set, have made it overly prevalent in the competitive scene. In fact, he sells “ban Incineroar” merchandise on his store. However, despite his long-standing disdain for the Pokémon, Glick has admitted that his perspective on Incineroar is shifting. Interestingly, Incineroar played a role in helping him secure victories at this year’s Championships!
In an interview with ComicBook in 2024, Shaman (formerly known as Melvin “Shaman” Keh) revealed that VGC competitors aren’t told ahead of time about these special distribution events. Shaman was the Singapore National Champion for 2023, and a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Gyarados distribution from him took place last year. This implies that Glick wasn’t aware that an Incineroar distribution was happening until today. In response to the news, he shared a humorous reaction on his X/Twitter account with the comment “LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO.” While more details about the distribution may be shared later, it appears that this sums up his feelings quite well!
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but notice that Glick’s fiery personality seems perfectly suited to Incineroar, the Pokemon chosen to represent the champion. It feels like The Pokemon Company had a bit of fun with this troll-like choice, and it’s resonating strongly within the Pokemon community. Come next month when the Mystery Gift becomes available, I can almost guarantee that fellow Glick fans will be quick to download it!
