Pokemon TCG Journey Together Booster Boxes Show Up Early in Stores

Although Pokemon Scarlet & Violet – Journey Together is yet to be officially released a few days from now, images suggest that some stores might have put stock early. On social media, pictures show booster bundles and boxes of the new expansion for the Pokemon Trading Card Game on the shelves at a GameStop store in Las Vegas. It’s uncertain if these cards are available for purchase, or if they were inadvertently stocked ahead of time. It might be that the cards can’t be scanned at the cash register until the street date, but it remains unconfirmed.

The main attraction of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet – Journey Together lies in its revival of the Trainer’s Pokemon concept, a feature that was first introduced in the early Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge sets from the TCG’s history. As depicted on the packaging, this set centers around well-known Pokemon Trainers from the video games, such as N, Iono, Hop, and Lillie, alongside the Pokemon they are often associated with. Consequently, the set comprises cards like N’s Zoroark ex and Iono’s Bellibolt ex. Similar to the older sets, these Trainer’s Pokemon cards feature miniature images of the Trainer, in addition to the Pokemon itself. You can find pictures of the boxes at GameStop by checking out the embedded Bluesky post below.

It’s understandable for Pokemon TCG collectors to worry about stores violating the street date release for Pokemon TCG products, given the scarcity of new cards in 2025. The upcoming set Journey Together is a matter of interest, as previous sets like Prismatic Evolutions and 151 have fetched high prices on the secondary market. It’s important to note that these were considered “special expansions,” meaning they weren’t sold individually in stores, but rather as part of sets with other items, such as card tins. This could potentially impact how collectors can acquire packs from the new set.

It’s great news that Pokemon Scarlet & Violet – Journey Together will offer individually purchased booster packs. While this may not make the cards easier to find, it means that single packs won’t have the same resale value as a boxed set with multiple packs and additional items. If this helps reduce conflicts over Pokemon cards in parking lots, then that’s definitely a positive development!

The much-anticipated release date for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Journey Together is set for March 28th. This means we’re almost there and about to witness the exciting unfolding of events. The Pokemon Company acknowledges the concerns regarding TCG cards, and they’re taking steps to combat resellers, though more might be needed. Fingers crossed that there will be ample supply to cater to the high demand, ensuring fans can finally get their hands on these cards!
