Over the past few weeks, the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) community has been captivated by the Scarlet & Violet – Prismatic Evolutions set and its accompanying drama. Despite some players yet to acquire an Eeveelution from this latest release, it’s not the only scheduled 2025 launch. Indeed, there’s another TCG set on the horizon: Journey Together, slated for release in March. However, a recent leak could shed light on what might be coming next.
Initially, the initial stocks of the Prismatic Evolutions collection at Pokemon Centers were snapped up swiftly following release, causing many to struggle in finding them at brick-and-mortar stores. Fortunately, additional items are due on February 7th, and afterwards, players can anticipate the Journey Together expansion on March 28th. Regarding further updates for English Pokemon TCG enthusiasts, news has been scarce. Given the ongoing fuss about the Prismatic Evolutions set, many fans have yet to fully shift their attention towards Journey Together or what lies ahead.
Despite the regular release of new sets approximately every three months, there’s plenty more to anticipate for this year. Thanks to a recent leak, we might have some insights about what’s scheduled for July. According to the fansite PokeBeach, an exclusive English set is rumored to drop on July 18th, 2025. This set may consist of two Elite Trainer Boxes, as well as two Sticker Collections and Illustration Rare Boxes. Notably, this new set resembles the Prismatic Evolutions lineup. Additional items are said to be released later on August 22nd, such as Booster Bundles. However, it’s yet to be confirmed whether this is all that will be included in the upcoming English special set.
Next English-Language Special Pokemon TCG Set May Have Unova Theme
The specific topic of the upcoming exclusive collection remains a mystery, but details about Japan’s forthcoming special release may offer some clues about the theme of the new English cards. In June, Japan will introduce a special set titled “Black Bolt and White Flair,” inspired by the Unova Region in Pokemon Black and White. This set will feature all 156 Pokemon from the Unova region. This development has sparked speculation about the ongoing remake of Pokemon Black and White, but it might also suggest the theme for the leaked English special set.
If the special English edition comes about a month or so after Black Bolt and White Flare, it could very well continue the same theme. Normally, US versions are released around 2-3 months following their Japanese counterparts, but if there’s enough advance notice on these special sets, it wouldn’t be unusual for them to align more closely in terms of timing.
Currently, there’s no verified information from The Pokemon Company regarding the alleged special collection. As of now, only “Journey Together” has been officially confirmed for the English version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (PTCG). This also applies to another rumored standard English set slated for release in May 2025, which PokeBeach has hinted at as well.
