Pokemon TCG Pocket Celestial Guardians Debuts New Kind of Immersive Card

Enthusiasts of the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket Edition had been anticipating a fresh pack unveiling shortly, and indeed, today we’ve gotten an initial glimpse at the upcoming Celestial Guardians set. This newly disclosed collection carries a Sun and Moon motif, introducing into the Pokemon TCG Pocket Edition some new Pokemon that haven’t previously appeared in digital form within the game. The forthcoming booster pack for the game comes in two distinct editions, one showcasing Solgaleo on its cover and another featuring Lunala, with both expected to hit shelves on April 30th. Aside from new starters and revamped card designs, this latest expansion for Pokemon TCG Pocket Edition introduces something novel – a fresh type of immersive card.

So far, all the intriguing immersive cards in the Pokemon TCG Pocket series have been focused on Pokemon characters, showcasing unique artwork for each specific Pokemon. We’ve seen immersive art for Charizard, Pikachu, Mew, Mewtwo, Celebi, Palkia, Dialga, Arceus, and Giratina. The majority of these, with the exception of Mew, have been for the EX versions of the cards. However, a recent trailer for Celestial Guardians hints at a new type of immersive card coming to the game – immersive trainer cards.

In the final moments of the teaser trailer for the latest booster packs, a standout trainer card featuring Lillie is revealed. Given the detailed border design, it’s clear this will be an engaging card experience. Interestingly, this marks the first instance of an immersive card in the game that isn’t a Pokémon card, and one of the rare exceptions to not being an EX card. The trailer offers a glimpse into the immersive experience for this trainer card, but to fully appreciate its benefits within the animated card tour, you’ll need to purchase booster packs in hopes of acquiring one yourself.

Lillie Supporter Card is Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s First Non-Pokemon Immersive Card

If you haven’t played Pokemon Sun and Moon games or perhaps have forgotten some characters, let me remind you about Lillie. She made an appearance in both the video games and the anime. Hailing from a wealthy background, Lillie exhibits a strange phobia towards Pokemon, despite her affection for them. As the story progresses in the anime, she undergoes significant development. In Pokemon Sun and Moon games as well as Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, she is among the initial characters players encounter.

Since she plays such a pivotal part in the tales from these games, it’s logical that she would have a significant presence in the new game set centered on the Alola region. Her designation as the first Trainer card with an immersive element underscores her importance as a crucial character within the Pokémon universe.

In terms of the function of the freshly introduced Supporter card in combat, the Lillie Trainer Card enables you to restore 60 points of damage from a Pokémon. However, it’s crucial to note that this healing can only occur for a Stage 2 Pokémon. This might prove challenging considering the swift pace of battles in the Pokemon TCG Pocket. The card’s impact on the overall strategy (meta) remains uncertain until new cards are released and players build their decks accordingly. Regardless, it appears to be an appealing addition to the Pokemon TCG Pocket collections for those fortunate enough to acquire it.
