Pokemon TCG Pocket Is Giving Players a Powerful Mythical Card, But There’s a Catch

In preparation for June, the Pokemon TCG Pocket is planning to make announcements about upcoming events, new card releases, and competitive matches. Yet, an impressive artwork of a potent Electric-type Mythical Pokemon has sparked controversy within the community since it can only be obtained by those who subscribe.

As a dedicated fan, I must admit that while Pokemon TCG Pocket had an impressive debut in 2024, it’s recently faced some challenges. The main issue I’ve noticed is the rapid release pace for new set expansions, with fresh lists being unveiled monthly since the start of this year. The latest expansion, Extradimensional Crisis, dropped on May 29, 2025, leaving many players like myself struggling to keep up with earlier sets.

It’s essential to explore fresh card sets in the Pokemon TCG Pocket game, as these events dominate gameplay outside of pack opening, apart from initial deck building. Consequently, players need to accumulate sufficient Pack Hourglasses to open as many new sets as they can when launched. Without the latest cards, it becomes extremely challenging to stay competitive.

Mythical Zeraora Gets Promo Card For Subscribers Only

On their official Pokemon TCG Pocket social media post, it’s been revealed that the upcoming reward bracket for June is exclusive to premium subscribers. These members can collect additional rewards and gain access to a collection of premium items which regular players won’t be able to earn or buy.

Here, Zeraora is exhibiting its proficiency with lightning, as depicted in a stunning card artwork. On the other hand, Alolan Vulpix is simply irresistible!

In the Pokemon TCG Pocket, players are given a peek at new items and cards centered around the releases from Extradimensional Crisis. These include an Alolan Vulpix play mat, a special card border, and a rare promo card illustration of Zeraora.

The unexpected inclusion of the legendary Electric-type as a bonus for redeeming a promotion in your paid subscription is intriguing, as it provides players with a strategic advantage when constructing decks. Zeraora boasts an Ability called “Thunderclap Flash,” which enables players to attach an Electric-type Energy card to Zeraora at the end of their turn. This feature allows for quick playability and even turns Zeraora into an energy producer when paired with cards that let Energy be transferred from one Pokemon to another.

Moreover, this special version of the playing card can only be accessed by those with a premium membership, meaning that regular, free users are unable to acquire it.

Users in the comment section have expressed disagreement about the Premium Pass only providing one card, instead they are advocating for a change that would allow them to receive two cards.

Instead of making the promo cards tradeable, could we receive two copies of each card? This way, we can create a deck with maximum rarity rather than using a standard version along with the full art.

Other players, like you, were uncertain about the method for acquiring multiple copies of the card, which made it difficult for them to arrange their decks effectively.

The player wondered if they could acquire two of these special or upgraded cards. They mentioned that playing with a Rare Action card and a Common card in their deck creates an imbalance that bothers them, as it triggers their need for organization during deck construction.

I’m sorry to inform you that it seems unlikely that you’ll be able to get two promo cards. Previous promotional cards offered with the premium subscription were only available for a single claim. Additionally, players are unable to trade these cards, meaning you can only own one at any given moment.

Individuals aiming to secure the promotional Zeraora card in June should be prepared to subscribe at a cost of $9.99. This subscription grants access to a bonus branch where you can find the card, plus it provides two free pack openings daily and other perks such as Pack and Wonder Hourglasses. Some may opt to forgo these benefits and instead obtain the standard version for no charge by opening packs or using pack points. Additionally, there’s a chance that the Zeraora card could appear in Wonder Picks for those who have saved up Wonder Hourglasses, especially in anticipation of the upcoming expansion launch.
