Enthusiasts of the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket initially rejoiced at the introduction of Ranked Matches within the game. Nevertheless, as the first season drew to a close, numerous players expressed dissatisfaction over the arduous journey required to reach the Master Ball rank, which they felt did not justify the rewards. Now, it has been clarified that developers DeNA are taking player feedback seriously. Commencing in late June, future seasons of Pokemon TCG Pocket Ranked play will introduce significant alterations to the progression system for the Ultra Ball and Master Ball ranks. Furthermore, a new incentive for consecutive victories is being implemented to help players ascend the rankings more swiftly.
This update concerning Pokemon TCG Pocket’s upcoming changes was posted by the official @PokemonTCGP account on X, on May 28th. These alterations won’t take place until the new season starts in late June; however, be prepared for a slightly modified experience in future Ranked Matches starting from then.
In the upcoming changes for Ranked Matches, we aim to enhance your experience:
– Beginning from the season commencing in late June, there will be an additional consecutive win bonus added for both Ultra Ball Rank and Master Ball Rank.
– Similarly, starting from the same period, a new feature will be introduced which rewards players with more points when they win multiple games consecutively.— Pokémon TCG Pocket (@PokemonTCGP) May 28, 2025
Starting the next season, Pokemon TCG Pocket will see two major modifications in ranked battles. Initially, players won’t be able to switch back from Master Ball to Ultra Ball or from Ultra Ball to Great Ball during the season. Secondly, there will be a consecutive win bonus introduced for higher ranks, allowing players to earn extra points by winning multiple matches consecutively. Fortunately, it appears that the rewards for reaching top ranks won’t change, but this adjustment should make the climb less grueling.
Due to the common frustration among competitive players that losing a hard-earned rank after reaching it was a recurring issue with Ranked mode, many are rejoicing at this recent change. In essence, one enthusiast’s reaction sums it up perfectly: “YES!” However, it is important to note that this adjustment only affects the higher ranks. Players making their way from beginner levels up to Ultra Ball may still experience demotions if they lose enough points.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Fans Say Thanks, But… To Ranked Match Changes
While numerous enthusiasts express their satisfaction with the updates in Ranked Matches, some are using this moment to bring up previous requests. The main demand in the feedback revolves around making Pack Points universal, a request that has been echoed by many players for quite some time now.
Collecting various sets in the Pokemon TCG Pocket game is getting tougher as each set requires separate Pack Points, making it cumbersome to obtain specific cards, especially when you have to repeatedly open Palkia packs for that elusive one card you’re missing. With the upcoming release of the Extradimensional Crisis set on May 29th, players are hoping DeNA will adjust their gacha system to be a little more lenient with the new pack point changes to make the gameplay experience less grindy and more enjoyable as they explore new packs.
As a dedicated Pokémon TCG Pocket gamer, I’ve got some suggestions for further improvements, but this new update on Ranked Matches certainly moves us in the right direction. It’s clear that DeNA is paying attention to player input as they craft Pokémon TCG Pocket, and that’s a positive sign.
