Pokemon TCG Pocket Lapras Event Addresses One of the Problems with Battles

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Pokémon gaming under my belt, I must say that the latest event in Pokemon TCG Pocket has me utterly thrilled! The Lapras ex event is not just a feast for collectors but also an enticing challenge for battle enthusiasts.

As a dedicated Pokémon TCG Pocket fan, I’m thrilled to share that we’re currently hosting an event with Lapras taking center stage! This event, running until November 17th, offers a chance to snag a Lapras ex promo card. However, this time around, the focus is on battles rather than card collection. If you’ve been all about gathering Pokémon cards up till now, it’s time to dive into the battling aspect of the game for this event!

In this upcoming Lapras EX event, you’ll encounter decks centered around Lapras. Defeat a deck of your chosen difficulty, and you’ll have a chance to receive a special booster pack called Promo Pack A Series Vol. 1. This pack could contain one out of five possible cards, with the Lapras EX from the event being one of them. However, keep in mind that there are only specific cards within each booster pack, so not only do you need to secure the booster pack itself, but also hope to draw the elusive Lapras EX card.

The image above features a Pokemon TCG Pocket event’s Lapras EX card, along with a sneak peek at other cards available in the event. Lapras EX and Mankey are the only fresh cards in the pack, so unless you’re keen on collecting stamped versions of the cards, you might as well stop battling once you’ve pulled those two unique ones.

The whole Pokemon TCG Pocket event is fantastic for those currently engaged in battles or newcomers unsure of when to join, as it signifies a positive trajectory for the mobile game’s future. Notably, the in-game news referred to this as a “drop event,” hinting at more unique cards being distributed in upcoming events, with Lapras serving as the initial offering. This likely explains why the promotional pack is labeled as Promo Pack A Series Vol. 1, but we’re yet to learn about the cards that will be showcased in future events.

Prior to the launch of Pokemon TCG Pocket, enthusiasts were already speculating about the potential for earning rewards through the game’s battle feature. Many perceived the Pokemon experience primarily as a card collection adventure, with the battle function serving as an added extra. As they delved deeper into the game, players began to ponder what types of incentives awaited them in battles. The prospect of accumulating experience points to level up their player rank and the promise of rewards was one motivating factor. However, special events such as the Lapras ex promo served as additional enticements for players to keep battling. Furthermore, given the variety of card versions that can be obtained and the fact that this is a mobile game, it’s likely we’ll witness regular battle events in Pokemon TCG Pocket to maintain player engagement both in battling and collecting.
