Pokemon TCG Pocket Players Already Worried About New Meta Cards

As a seasoned Pokémon Trainer with over two decades of gaming experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the latest Mythical Island booster pack has shaken things up like no other. The new cards have breathed fresh life into the game and introduced some truly formidable threats to our ranked battles.

The debut of the latest expansion for Pokemon TCG Pocket, Mythical Island, didn’t just introduce fresh cards but also potential game-changing elements, often referred to as meta threats. Previously popular cards such as Mewtwo ex, Pikachu ex, Starmie ex might take a backseat as players experiment with new strategies in ranked play. Despite the smaller quantity of new cards in Mythical Island, speculation about which cards will prove powerful and what combinations to watch for is already rife among players.

In this setup, Celebi and Serperior are expected to perform exceptionally well in the meta game, as they form a strong combination. Serperior’s ability makes every grass energy it has count as two, which harmonizes beautifully with Celebi’s Powerful Bloom attack. This allows Celebi to toss a coin for each grass energy and deal 50 damage per head. Additionally, Dhelmise complements this duo well, as Serperior swiftly charges up its Power Whip attack.

Let’s brace for another obnoxious Duo combo.

But this isn’t the only new threat. Taurus ex seems pretty basic on paper, but when facing an ex Pokemon as the active Pokemon, its Fighting Tackle attack deals an additional 80 damage, bringing it up to 120 damage, enough to one-shot Pikachu ex. Another normal-type Pokemon with potential is the new Eevee. Eevee’s Continuous Steps has the potential to do infinite damage and only for one basic energy. This makes it a much faster-to-play version of Lickitung.

One of the emerging significant threats in the gaming world is Mew-X, an advanced variant of the original Mew obtained by catching all 151 Pokemons. Its Genome Hacking ability allows it to seize control of your opponent’s active Pokemon’s attack and use it against them. With Genome Hacking, Mew-X can even deploy Charizard’s Crimson Storm, the strongest move in the game. Decks centered around Mew-X often employ Mythical Slab and Budding Explorer to enhance this cute, pink monster.

Among the cards introduced in Pokemon TCGP’s Mythical Island expansion, these ones seem to bring about significant changes in the game’s meta, but there are other valuable additions as well. The newly-introduced Exxegutor could potentially serve as a strong counter to Mewtwo ex, Charizard ex, and any card that wins with Misty using its Psychic attack. If these cards have enough energy, Exxegutor’s attack might deal a lethal blow in a single strike.

Among the new additions to Pokemon TCG Pocket’s gameplay, these cards are strongly suggested as disruptors to the current meta, with Mythical Island contributing some other excellent cards as well. The newly introduced Exxegutor could potentially neutralize Mewtwo ex, Charizard ex, and any card benefiting from Misty’s effect due to its Psychic attack. This attack has the potential to instantly defeat each of these if they have enough energy accumulated.

In the latest update, Blaine’s Pokémon collection gains stronger variants of Ponyta and Rapidash. These versions have a reliance on luck but can inflict greater damage than their Genetic Apex counterparts. Similarly, the revamped Magmar deals more harm, yet may not be as favorable as Ninetails in certain situations. However, these new fire-type Pokémon broaden the strategic possibilities when employing the Blaine supporter card.

Information about the next booster pack installment hasn’t been disclosed yet, but it’s expected to be a standard-sized pack similar to Genetic Apex. Players can anticipate encountering even more new Pokemon than those found on Mythical Island. Simultaneously, the launch of Mythical Island has brought about an hourglass event, giving players a chance to swiftly complete their Pokemon TCGP Pokedex at no cost.
