Pokemon TCG Pocket Reveals New Space-Time Smackdown Card Expansion

It has been unveiled what lies ahead for the Pokemon Trading Card Game: Pocket. As rumors suggested a few days ago, this expansion is themed around Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, focusing primarily on creatures from the Sinnoh region. The exciting event called “Space-Time Smackdown” will introduce popular characters like Dialga ex and Palkia ex onto two new booster pack designs. Additionally, the starters of that era – Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup – will make an appearance too. Other cards revealed include Hochkrow, Leafeon, Pachirisu ex, Cresselia, Gible, and a Supporter card featuring Cynthia. The new set is scheduled for release on January 29th, Wednesday.

Information about the release date has been somewhat unclear from The Pokemon Company. Both their YouTube page and Twitter account mention January 30th as the availability date, while the trailer suggests it’s on the 29th. Time zone differences might be a factor, so we’ll find out soon enough. In any case, the new set is almost here! Don’t forget to watch the Space-Time Smackdown trailer below.

Currently, the exact number of cards in Space-Time Smackdown remains unknown, but with two booster pack options at our disposal, it’s anticipated that this set could be larger than Mythical Island. The expansion is expected to deliver a greater variety of cards, compelling players to adapt their strategies for competitive gameplay, and encouraging them to continue opening packs due to the increased rewards.

In addition, the much-anticipated trade feature in Pokemon TCG Pocket is set to be launched on January 28th.

With two new booster packs on their way, fans needn’t worry about the existing ones disappearing. The Pokemon Company has stated that old booster packs will continue to be available even with the introduction of new ones into the Pokemon TCG Pocket. This is good news for players who are still working on completing Genetic Apex and Mythical Island, as they can still divide their daily pack openings if desired. For now, there’s no indication that the game will phase out certain in-game packs, although this could potentially change in the future (playing with words here).

The Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has been thriving ever since its release towards the end of last year. It has drawn considerable interest, with over 40 billion cards amassed by players so far. This week, The Pokemon Company honored this milestone by releasing a free promotional card. Players have the opportunity to grab it while supplies last. As the game progresses and new expansions become available, it will be fascinating to observe how this number increases. Given its vast player community, we can anticipate a consistent flow of content in the coming days!
