With its hammer-wielding antics and Steel-type prowess, this newcomer from Scarlet and Violet promises to bring a fresh dynamic to the battlefield.
In a thrilling turn of events, it’s been confirmed that a new playable character, Tinkaton, is set to join the roster of Pokemon Unite within a few weeks! As per the official Japanese X/Twitter account, Tinkaton, a Fairy/Steel-type Pokemon, will make its grand entrance on December 12th. Regrettably, we don’t have much information at this time, but the company hints that there’s more to come soon. At present, our knowledge about Tinkaton is limited to a promotional artwork for the game, with no gameplay footage or details on how it will perform in-game available yet.
Tinkaton is a recently introduced Pokemon, making its debut in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This Pokemon is the final evolution of Tinkatink and Tinkatuff. The most distinctive feature of this Pokemon is the massive hammer it carries, which it uses to hurl rocks at flying Corviknight, causing them to fall from the sky. Interestingly, this hammer is crafted from the metal that Tinkaton gathers by attacking Steel-type Pokemon like Bisharp and Pawniard! The evolutionary line of Tinkaton has gained prominence in Pokemon Horizons: The Series, with both Tinkatink and Tinkatuff being utilized by the character Dot.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled about the recent announcement of Tinkaton joining our ranks in Pokemon Unite! Just days ago, we welcomed Psyduck into the fray on November 14th. Psyduck was the final Gen 1 Pokemon to be added to the game, following Armarouge (released in September) and Darkrai (October). These three playable Pokemon were teased at the Pokemon World Championships back in August. With Tinkaton’s arrival, it seems that The Pokemon Company and TiMi Studio Group are gearing up to deliver even more exciting characters throughout 2025!
Ever since its debut in 2021, Pokemon Unite has amassed an impressive collection of playable characters. The developers have skillfully incorporated Pokemon from different generations, ranging from fan-favorites like Pikachu, Mewtwo, and Charizard to the latest additions from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, such as Armarouge, Ceruledge, and Miraidon. Tinkaton is set to join this diverse group, and it’s exciting to speculate how it will measure up against the rest of the game’s character lineup. Here’s hoping that the new character strikes a good balance in terms of playability and intrigue, enticing players to give it a go.
For the majority of Pokemon Unite players worldwide, there’s an upcoming opportunity to explore Tinkaton in December. However, this isn’t applicable to players residing in Belgium and the Netherlands, as support for the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions will conclude on November 30th, a fact confirmed back in September. Previous in-game purchases ended in October, but the game remains playable for a few more days following this announcement.
