Police Officer Stuns AGT Judges With Emotional Ed Sheeran Cover

As I read through these heartwarming stories of contestants on America’s Got Talent (AGT), I cannot help but be moved by their resilience and the power of their voices to heal, inspire, and captivate. Each story is unique, yet they all share a common thread – the transformative effect that music has had on their lives.

Get ready to ugly cry.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it as follows: During the July 16th episode of “America’s Got Talent,” I, Mervin Mayo from Virginia, captured everyone’s attention with an enchanting rendition of Ed Sheeran‘s timeless ballad “Thinking Out Loud.” However, before stepping onto the stage for my audition, it was my heartwarming love story with my beautiful wife Mechelle that touched the judges and left them eager to see more.

As it turned out, it was Mechelle’s support that led Mervin to the AGT stage.

“My wife persuaded me to be here,” he explained to Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Sofía Vergara, and Howie Mandel. “Whatever actions I take, my wife encourages me to do so. That’s why I’m presently in this place.”

Plus, Mervin’s dedication to his community proved he truly has a heart of gold.

He revealed that he has served as a police officer for the past 19 years. However, it’s not just any police role for him. Instead, he functions as a school resource officer. This position is unique because I work in a school setting with students at risk of getting into legal trouble, aiming to prevent them from ending up in jail.

Mervin displayed both his strong singing voice and his accomplished keyboard playing as he sang a romantic ballad for his wife, who happily watched from behind the curtains.

Following a thunderous applause from the spectators, Mervin turned to his companion and inquired, “What about that, love?” prior to presenting the school counselor to the judges.

As for what Mechelle thought of the tear-jerking performance?

“He was amazing,” she reacted. “I’m so proud of him.”

And so were the judges.

As an obsessed fan, I can’t help but express my deep admiration for both of you. You’re the pillars of our community, ensuring safety and well-being within our school system. Your dedication and service are truly commendable. I’m deeply connected to each of you, and I eagerly look forward to hearing from you once more.

Meanwhile, Heidi praised Mervin’s natural stage presence.

The supermodel complimented, “You sounded fantastic up there.” She continued, “I sensed a strong connection. I could feel the warmth of the audience’s appreciation. It was a moving experience.”

Sofía added, “You two make a stunning pair with voices to match. It’s lovely that you both love each other and serenade her. I believe the audience will be enchanted by you.”

Simon gave his final endorsement with these words: “Your voice is truly good, and every action of yours was heartfelt. I believe we’ve had an exceptional experience.”

And with that, all four judges said yes to advancing Mervin to the next round of competition.

On Tuesday nights at 8 p.m., NBC broadcasts America’s Got Talent. For a refresher on some of the most remarkable performances from this popular show, continue reading.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d say: “I remember when a 12-year-old ukulele prodigy graced the stage, leaving everyone in awe. Her unique original song and captivating personality won us all over. Even skeptics like Simon Cowell predicted she would be the next Taylor Swift. Before anyone could respond, Howie Mandel hit the golden buzzer. He exclaimed, ‘You’re a living, beautiful miracle.’ Your lack of fame was both mysterious and exciting, but mark my words, the world will soon know your name.'”

As a longtime fan of America’s Got Talent, I have seen countless performances that left me speechless. But none compare to the moment when the singer graced the stage during The Champions edition of the show. With a voice that could melt butter and a stage presence that captivated the judges and audience alike, they brought “Wild Horses” by The Rolling Stones to life in a way that was nothing short of mesmerizing.

As a long-time fan of reality singing competitions, I’ve seen my fair share of talented young performers. But none have touched my heart quite like that non-profit choir’s moving rendition of “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana. The emotion that filled the room was palpable as Ken Jeong hit the golden buzzer, sending them straight through to the next round. Mel B’s words echoed my own thoughts as she shared how deeply affected she was by their performance, and it was clear that each child’s passion and dedication shone through their voices.

In the opening scene, the pediatric mental health nurse captivated us right from the start. With six children in foster care under his care, this dedicated father aimed to be a role model for America’s youth. “I want to prove to them that they can achieve their dreams just like I have,” he expressed. His heartfelt act left Simon Cowell deeply moved and compelled him to activate the golden buzzer. “Actions truly do speak louder than words,” Cowell stated. “There’s an extraordinary quality to your voice, and everything came together flawlessly for you. You deserve this opportunity.”

As an obsessed fan, I’ve seen countless auditions on this show, but none have left me as speechless as the 29-year-old deaf singer who performed an original song titled “Try.” Her breathtaking performance left the judges in awe.

As a person who has gone through the painful experience of being bullied at school, I can wholeheartedly relate to Mel B’s heartfelt expression of gratitude towards music and Aretha Franklin’s powerful voice. The memory of that special performance still gives me goose bumps. It was more than just a song; it was a source of strength and inspiration during tough times. And when Mel B pressed the golden buzzer, I felt a deep connection to her emotion and appreciation for the transformative power of music. That moment was not only a tribute to Aretha Franklin’s talent but also a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

As an obsessed fan, I could say: I’ve been blown away by every performance on this show, but nothing compares to the moment when the 145-member choir took the stage and sang “Baba Yetu.” Their unique harmonies resonated deeply with me, and when guest judge Olivia Munn heard them, she couldn’t contain her excitement, hitting the golden buzzer. Simon Cowell agreed, sharing that he’s listened to countless choirs throughout his career, but none have been as original as this one.

In June 2017, a 16-year-old boy named Christian shared his struggle with Leber congenital amaurosis, a condition that left him blind and was told he’d need to use a cane and wouldn’t see any improvement. However, when he was twelve, gene therapy miraculously cured him. During his performance on the stage, Christian sang “Who’s Lovin’ You” by The Jackson 5. After Howie Mandel pressed the golden buzzer, Simon Cowell expressed his admiration, saying, “There’s just something special about you, and it feels amazing to encounter someone like you.”

WATCH: When first stepping onto the stage, the 13-year-old singer couldn’t hide her nerves. But as soon as the music started playing, Courtney transformed into a total rock star. “You are not from this era. You’re from a whole different era,” Howie Mandel shared. “I can’t sign you to a record deal. The only thing I can do for you young lady is give you the golden buzzer.”

Observe: At ten years old, this young singer impressively performed a rendition of “Girl On Fire” by Alicia Keys. The audience was astonished as she appeared with cute sneakers and an endearing childlike appearance, only to reveal an astonishing vocal prowess. Chris Hardwick, the guest judge, expressed his amazement, exclaiming, “I can’t believe it! You look so innocent and then your voice comes out – where do those powerful pipes fit into such a small body?” In awe, he pressed the golden buzzer, declaring, “You’re extraordinary! I feel like you were destined for this!”
