Are you indifferent or concerned that PlayStation Stars, a service we once knew, is fading away?
Back in 2022, they unveiled this awesome rewards program that I’ve been reaping benefits from ever since. It started off being available only in certain areas, but it gradually expanded to cover many regions over several months. Essentially, it’s a loyalty system designed for gamers like me who stick with the PlayStation universe, giving us some cool perks and bonuses along the way!
It’s been intriguing to consider that digital collectibles have been accessible to everyone, but it’s often puzzled us as to how many people actually utilize them. For the vast majority of users, I imagine the main appeal of Stars is the chance to reduce some costs on your next PlayStation Store transaction.
Getting a bit of additional funds for your digital wallet, earned by finishing tasks and shopping at the storefront, served as a motivator to occasionally visit PlayStation Stars. However, Sony faced criticism when they took away such monetary rewards last year; however, they were quickly restored again.
It seems clear, or at least hinted, that the fate of Stars was not looking promising, as Sony announced earlier this week that they will be closing down the service permanently by November 2026.
Currently, it appears that new participants won’t be able to enroll in the program. Additionally, no fresh campaigns or extra benefits will be introduced to Stars after June 23rd, 2025.
Is the end of PlayStation Stars significant for you? Does it bring feelings of sorrow, or are you indifferent about its demise? Cast your vote in our polls, and share your genuine thoughts in the comment section below.
