Pope Francis is being honored around the world after his death.
As a devoted follower, I’m deeply saddened to share the news that His Holiness, Pope Francis (born Jorge Mario Bergoglio), departed from us on April 21, at the age of 88.
This morning at 7:35, Pope Francis, as referred to by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, made his way back to the residence of the Father. In a statement, he emphasized that Pope Francis has consistently shown us how to embody the teachings of the Bible with steadfastness, bravery, and boundless love, particularly in advocating for the underprivileged and those on society’s outskirts.
After his passing, the revered spiritual leader – who had been hospitalized earlier this year due to a double-lung infection known as pneumonia – was honored by global leaders, among them King Charles III, who expressed condolences on behalf of himself and Queen Camilla.
Charles expressed deep sadness upon hearing about Pope Francis’ passing. Yet, a sense of relief washed over him knowing that before his departure, the pope extended an Easter greeting to the church and the global community he faithfully served for his entire life and ministry.
The monarch added, “His Holiness will be deeply missed for his compassionate heart,” emphasizing his dedication to preserving the Church’s unity, tirelessly advocating for shared causes among people of faith, and those who strive for the well-being of others. His conviction that caring for the Earth is a profound reflection of our belief in God echoed worldwide. Through his actions and care for both humanity and the planet, he left an indelible impact on countless lives.
Charles went on to reflect on his time with Pope Francis, including an April 9 meeting.
Charles expressed that he and the Queen hold special fond memories of their interactions with His Holiness throughout the years. He was deeply touched by the opportunity to meet him recently in the month prior. He extends his deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Church he served so resolutely, as well as to all the people worldwide who were inspired by his life and will be mourning the profound loss of this devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
The White House’s official account paid tribute to Pope Francis by posting a photo of him alongside President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, along with an image from Vice President JD Vance’s Easter gathering with the Pope.
“Rest in Peace,” the caption read, “Pope Francis.”
Vance shared a separate message on his X account, expressing, “I’ve just learned about Pope Francis’s passing. My sympathies are with the millions of Christians worldwide who cherished him. I had the pleasure of meeting him yesterday, despite his evident illness. However, I will forever remember him for the touching homily he delivered in the initial stages of COVID-19. It was truly moving.

The President of France Emmanuel Macron also remembered Pope Francis and his lasting legacy.
Throughout his writings from Buenos Aires to Rome, Pope Francis expressed a desire for the Church to spread joy and hope especially among the most impoverished communities. He also wished for it to foster unity between people and with nature. This hope he envisioned should endure long after him. On behalf of my wife and myself, we extend our thoughts to all Catholics worldwide as well as those in mourning.
Simultaneously, Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, took to Facebook to express her sentiments, saying, “Pope Francis has gone back home with the Father. This news saddens us greatly as we bid farewell to an outstanding individual and a remarkable shepherd.
She shared that she’s been fortunate to benefit from his friendship, guidance, and wisdom, which remained steadfast during hardships. In his reflections on the Stations of the Cross, he emphasized the potency of giving, a force that nurtures growth and brings together what seems irreconcilable in human eyes. He implored the world to summon the bravery to alter its path, to choose a road that not only thrives but also nourishes, repairs, and preserves.
In simpler terms, Meloni stated that they would carry on following his path, which means seeking peace, promoting the common good, and working towards a more fair and equitable society. She ended by saying that while they are saddened by his departure, they believe he is now at peace with the Lord.
