Pope Leo XIV Watched ‘Conclave’ Before Election: Brother Reveals

Robert Francis Prevost was ready to become Pope Leo XIV

Following his election, the Chicago native’s brother John Prevost recounted their last discussion prior to him being secluded with 132 other cardinals. During this conversation, the burning question arose as to whether the newly appointed pope had watched the movie “Conclave,” starring Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci.

John clarified in an interview with NBC Chicago that he had recently watched the movie “Conclave“, which is why he understood how to act accordingly when asked.

John also detailed how else he distracted his brother from the life-changing event.

In my efforts to alleviate his concerns, I suggested we share a laugh, you see, as this newfound duty is quite substantial and worthy of a chuckle.

Certainly, the former teacher mentioned that he and his brother follow a consistent pattern during their phone conversations.

He reminisced, “Initially, we engage in Wordle, followed by Words With Friends. These games help him escape from reality and daily life. We discuss current events afterwards. I asked, ‘By the way, do you have your red socks on?’ That’s not always a hit. Casual chit-chat like that follows.

After his brother’s ascension to a position of power, John was uncertain about the nature of their future interactions due to Robert’s increased duties. Nevertheless, he expressed his thoughts on how he believed his brother would guide the Catholic faith.

He explained to the New York Times that, at present, the individual is reminiscent of Francis in his actions. He shared a close friendship with Francis, and they had known each other prior to Francis becoming the Pope, as well as before his brother assumed the role of bishop.

He also described his brother’s policies as “middle of the road.”

He clarified that he doesn’t expect an extremely positive or negative outcome. It’s hard to predict exactly how far he might push this, but he certainly won’t remain idle. In other words, he probably won’t keep quiet about it.
