As a long-time gamer who has been through several console generations, I must say that I am dismayed by the early issues plaguing the PS5 Pro. The fact that one of the year’s most anticipated games and another highly-anticipated title are not only failing to live up to their potential on the PS5 Pro but actually running better on the standard model is a cause for concern.
The high-end PS5 model, the PS5 Pro, has been available for a couple of weeks now, and as time passes, more issues with this expensive, $700 console are surfacing. For instance, PlayStation Studios recently launched a new game, their flagship title slated for the holiday season of 2024, but it does not work at all on the PS5 Pro. Intriguingly, it’s been disclosed that not just one, but two key PS5 games perform better on the regular PS5 compared to the PS5 Pro.
The initial game among these two is the newly launched Silent Hill 2, a standout title from this year’s releases. Contrary to marketing claims, it performs more optimally and smoothly on the regular PS5 rather than the PS5 Pro, due to significant technical problems encountered with the PS5 Pro version.
Absolutely, an update (or “patch”) can resolve the current issues, and once it does, the PlayStation 5 Pro would indeed offer a superior gaming experience. However, at present, that’s not the case, and there’s no word yet on when this update will be available. As suggested in the following post, the developers at Bloober Team and publishers at Konami have been silent about the game’s problems with the PS5 Pro.
Konami is completely silent..

Regrettably, it seems that the PS5 Pro version isn’t running smoothly for a number of major PS5 games, including Respawn Entertainment and EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which appears to be experiencing performance issues on the PS5 Pro, as of now.
According to Digital Foundry’s findings, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor appears less visually appealing when played on the PS5 Pro compared to the standard PS5. This configuration may even lower the game’s resolution to as low as 648p, which is significantly diminished.
In essence, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor lacks a PS5 Pro update, yet it’s expected to perform better on this high-end model due to its superior hardware capabilities, as suggested by its $700 price tag. The absence of such an update might indicate a potential issue with the console’s performance expectations. While not every PS5 game will be optimized for the PS5 Pro, owners should still anticipate some form of improvement, at the very least.
As a gamer, I’m currently unaware of any official comments regarding the recent developments by PlayStation or any other involved parties. Should anything change, you can be sure that I’ll keep you updated with the most current information.
