‘The film is titled Wolf Man, directed by the same person who made The Invisible Man for Blumhouse Productions. The story is set in rural Oregon where Blake, his wife Charlotte, and daughter Ginger move for a fresh start. Upon their arrival, they experience a vicious animal attack, forcing them to stay indoors while something mysterious lurks outside. As the night progresses, Blake’s wounds worsen and he behaves strangely in a monstrous manner. To safeguard her daughter, Charlotte must decide whether to face the danger lurking outside or the increasing terror within.’

Barbie and Fall Guy Star Ryan Gosling was Almost a “Wolf Man”

In the year 2023, Ryan Gosling, who had everyone smitten following his riotously funny portrayal in the summer hit Barbie, turned out to be the main catalyst for the latest adaptation of the classic monster tale, Wolf Man. It was reported that after Director Leigh Whannell had successfully rebooted another studio’s timeless creature, the Invisible Man, in 2020, Gosling proposed a remake of Wolf Man. Eventually, it was Christopher Abbot (known for his roles in Girls and Sanctuary) who landed the lead role.

As a devoted cinephile, I found myself collaborating with Ryan Gosling initially. He was set to star, and we were meticulously crafting the project. However, scheduling conflicts arose, leading me to say, “You know what? Let’s switch gears and move on to another production.” Fortunately, my project miraculously reappeared, which I welcomed warmly as it allowed me to carry on with the script I had already penned, simply picking up where I left off.

Whannell went on to say, “I’m sorry, Ryan couldn’t proceed due to his busy schedule, but this journey was more circuitous than my usual paths. In contrast, for Upgrade and The Invisible Man, it was a straightforward A, B, C process: write the script, find financing, assemble the cast, shoot the film. This time, however, it was an incredibly twisting route to creating a movie, but I’m thrilled that I managed to bring it to life.”

Wolfman is now playing in cinemas.
