If you’re a devotee of 1980s action flicks, I’m guessing you’ve picked up on an interesting piece of lore surrounding Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton. These two talented actors are widely admired, but what truly sets their genre performances apart is that they are the only ones in cinema history to have faced off against Predators, Alien creatures (Xenomorphs), and Terminators. This unique fraternity has a new member joining this weekend due to the streaming debut of the animated film “Predator: Killer Of Killers“.
Michael Biehn is famously known for his roles as Kyle Reese in “The Terminator”, Cpl. Dwayne Hicks in “Aliens”, and more recently, he provides voice to a WWII commander named Vandy in the latest “Predator” movie. Upon watching the film over the weekend, I recognized the strategic casting choice, which was further confirmed by director Dan Trachtenberg during an interview earlier this week. According to Trachtenberg, the selection of Biehn was deliberate.
As a movie enthusiast, I can honestly confess that when we were casting for a particular character, we didn’t let age appropriateness deter us. Instead, we embraced the cool factor so wholeheartedly that it was like, “Who cares about the age thing? It’s just too awesome to have Biehn on board!
In the movie “Predator: Killer of Killers”, Michael Biehn isn’t revealed much about his character, but he assumes a crucial supporting role in the third part of the anthology. He serves as a mentor to Torres, a young pilot portrayed by Rick Gonzalez.
Regarding Biehn’s recent esteemed position next to Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton in the annals of popular culture, Trachtenberg commented:
– Or, Speaking about Biehn joining Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton in the realm of popular culture history, Trachtenberg expressed:
– Lastly, Touching on Biehn’s current standing beside Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton within pop culture tradition, Trachtenberg commented:
Three talented actors from our childhood who we adored are featured in this film, and it’s fantastic to see Michael Biehn in the mix! This means that Biehn has now faced off against a Terminator, an Alien (Xenomorph), and a Predator, making this movie quite exceptional.
For those who might not be familiar: Bill Paxton portrays the unnamed Punk Leader in “The Terminator”, Private Hudson in “Aliens”, and Jerry Lambert in “Predator 2”. On the other hand, Lance Henriksen takes on the roles of Detective Hal Vukovich in “The Terminator”, Bishop and Bishop II in “Aliens” and “Alien3”, and Charles Bishop Weyland in “Alien vs. Predator”.
Before the theater release of “Predator: Badlands” (directed by Dan Trachtenberg), viewers who are Hulu subscribers can enjoy “Predator: Killer of Killers”, a time-jumping story that pits members of the Yautja against Vikings, ninjas, samurais, and skilled World War II pilots. A thrilling addition to the franchise and a great sequel to Trachtenberg’s “Prey”, it will be available for streaming starting tomorrow, June 6. Keep an eye out for more insights from the filmmakers in interviews coming soon.
