As a devoted fan, I can confidently say that the latest installment of “Predator: Killer of Killers,” which premiered on Hulu on June 6, 2025, is a fantastic addition to the franchise. It delivers everything we fans have come to expect from a Predator film, with fresh lore woven seamlessly into the existing narrative, and clever connections to previous movies that keep us on our toes. The stories are not only exciting but also uniquely different, making it a must-watch for any fan of the series.
As a devoted fan, I’d like to share my excitement about this movie that unfolds as an animated anthology, weaving together three thrilling tales: “The Shield,” “The Sword,” and “The Bullet.” Each story introduces a unique Predator design, and let me tell you, they are all quite formidable. Every Predator enthusiast is familiar with their hunting rituals – they challenge humans as a rite of passage, seeking worthy adversaries to engage in battle. This hunt results in some breathtaking action sequences, and in “Killer of Killers,” this remains true as each story delivers some of the most exceptional animated action scenes ever presented.
The Shield Review
The Shield predominantly explores ideas related to family and the impact of seeking vengeance for a deceased relative. It chronicles the journey of a woman who lost her father in combat as a child, and is now determined to exact retribution against the individual responsible for his demise (though it’s not necessarily their direct killer).
The teenager son of this woman trails close by, eager to confront any adversary that blocks her path and demonstrating his unwavering allegiance towards her. Meanwhile, the Predator is seen stalking her, on the hunt for a formidable foe, but he chooses not to engage in combat until roughly midway through the story.
The combat, particularly the deployment of shields, is shockingly brutal, grisly, and far crazier than expected. “The Shield” starts off impressively, giving viewers a heads-up about the copious amounts of violence and gore they are about to witness.
The Sword Review
Despite finding a connection with “The Shield” as a parent, I personally prefer “The Sword” among the three narratives. What captivates me most about it is its minimal dialogue, which stands out significantly compared to the other stories. This sparseness in conversation lets the combat sequences serve as the main form of expression.
In simpler terms, this narrative revolves around two siblings engaged in a struggle for supremacy. However, their conflict provides an opportune moment for a Predator to emerge. The combat scenes are engaging due to elements of Samurai and Ninja martial arts. Furthermore, the Predator’s ability to become invisible and the ninja’s skill at blending into the shadows create visually stunning moments.
The Bullet Review
The story, titled The Bullet, unfolds during World War II, yet it predominantly transpires in the skies above. From the outset, the protagonist exudes a great deal of endearment as his aspirations and courage are evident. Prior to the arrival of the Predator, our hero is diligently pursuing a dream – that of becoming an accomplished pilot. His father, a mechanic by trade, attempts to mold him in the same profession, but the military’s influence fails to sway him from his chosen path.
In this story, the military elements foster a touching sense of camaraderie and offer thrilling battle scenes. Among the trio of tales, this one showcases the most impressive Predator design. Additionally, the aerial action sequences involving aircraft are quite engaging.
Predator: Killer of Killers Overall Review
In a surprising twist, Predator: Killer of Killers links the three narratives in an unanticipated manner. Individually, each story is complete and watchable, but it’s only at the climax that they converge, offering another intense fight scene brimming with violence and gore.
This animated movie exceeded my violent expectations, yet in a satisfying manner. It maintains the tough reputation established by the Predator series and avoids altering anything from its past. Each tale is brimming with action, while still incorporating poignant emotional scenes that left me teary-eyed. The animation is simply stunning, managing to portray Predators as aesthetically pleasing.
Viewers find it simple to empathize with and support the primary human characters in these tales, but that doesn’t detract from the thrill of watching them fight against the Predators. Be on the lookout for some hidden references at the end, which might spark great joy among fans. Could this hint at more? We certainly hope so.
Director Dan Trachtenberg of “Prey” has once more demonstrated his deep understanding and passion for this realm, delivering another exceptional film. His debut in the “Predator” series was nothing short of remarkable, sparking intense anticipation for a potential “Prey 2”.
