The name of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s future daughter wasn’t inspired by a Disney princess.
In November, the reality TV star who’s pregnant and expecting her first child with boyfriend Ken Urker, announced they would be naming their daughter Aurora Raina Urker. Now, the origin of that name has been disclosed.
Gypsy clarified to People on December 10th that she herself was the one who came up with the idea, and contrary to some fan theories, it wasn’t inspired by her stepmom Kristy’s dog Aurora Grace.
Their baby girl’s name actually stems from their dream vacation.
In an interview, the star of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup shared a memorable moment from seven years ago when she and Ken were together. They had a mutual fascination with the Northern Lights, which are also known as Aurora Borealis. It’s possible that this happened around 2018. An intriguing coincidence occurred when they each wrote a name for their future child on separate pieces of paper, and they both chose “Aurora” without knowing it was the other’s choice.
Nevertheless, the aspiration of having a baby girl together with Ken diminished following their split in 2019, only to reunite again in 2023.
When we parted ways, he remarked, “I feared Aurora would never come to be,” at the age of 33. He added, “Many assume the source is this or that, but few are privy to the tale behind it.
Gypsy and Ken have big plans to see the Northern Lights in real life, after she gets off patrol.
She mentioned, “One day, we will get a chance to visit it.” She also added, “Once my parole is over, we’ll set out on a journey. Our destination? Sweden.
Previously incarcerated individual, known as Gypsy, concluded her seven-year sentence for the murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, in 2023. Alongside Ken, she announced in July that they were expecting their first child, following her separation from former spouse Ryan Anderson several months prior.
On December 9th, only a few weeks before welcoming her newborn daughter, Gypsy and Ryan, her husband whom she wedded in 2022 during her imprisonment, legally ended their marriage by finalizing the divorce.
As Gypsy recently explained, it was an argument with Ryan that prompted her to end their marriage.
Gypsy said to People, “It’s a bit like saying, ‘Well, I guess you realize that you’re accepting less than what you truly desire,’ or ‘You’re conforming to the norm, but deep down, you feel you’re not fully satisfied.’

On April 5, 2024, Gypsy opted for a rhinoplasty and septoplasty (commonly known as a nose job). This significant change in her appearance will be captured on Lifetime’s show Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up.
On April 8, 2024, Gypsy initiated a divorce from Ryan, as documented by papers acquired by TMZ. This filing took place approximately two years following their July 2022 nuptials in prison.
In the latter part of April 2024, about weeks after filing for divorce, Gypsy disclosed her reconciliation with her former fiancé, Ken Urker. A month later, they publicly declared their rekindled relationship on social media by posting a video montage showcasing their romantic instances on TikTok.
In her video, Gypsy described her love story with Ken as “legendary.”
When a fan, referencing her previous remarks about ex-Ryan, seized the moment to ask an adult-themed question regarding Ken in the comment section, Gypsy swiftly and frankly addressed it.
