As the star of “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup” gets ready to welcome her first child with boyfriend Ken Urker, she finds herself contemplating the sadness that her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, who Gypsy was imprisoned for conspiring to murder in 2015, won’t be able to meet her grandchild.
Gypsy shared during The Viall Files episode on October 16th, “It’s truly disheartening for me.” She occasionally ponders about the possibilities, and this thoughtfulness leaves her feeling sad. To move past it, she chooses to push those thoughts aside.
The 33-year-old admitted that some of the feelings come from questions she gets on social media.
Gypsy mentioned that people often wonder, “What will you say to your daughter when Grandma isn’t here anymore?”, to which she gives credit to her stepmother, Kristy Blanchard, for stepping into the role. In response, she says that Kristy has taken on a more maternal role in her life than her biological mother did. Therefore, Kristy will be known as Grandma to her children.
As the woman once known as Gypsy, who parted ways with her husband Ryan Anderson in March, prepares for motherhood, she highlighted that the past year outside of prison has been a period of significant transformation for her.
“I have changed a lot,” she emphasized. “I’ve had a lot of life experience packed into 10 months.”
After serving her sentence that ended in December 2023, Gypsy has been open about her personal development, particularly addressing critics who have expressed negative opinions about her decision to become a mother.
Gypsy expressed her uncertainty in her July YouTube pregnancy announcement, saying, “I wonder if anyone is truly prepared to take on the role of a mother.” She continued, “I haven’t met anyone who has confidently declared, ‘I’m ready now. I’m going for it.’
Still, Gypsy said she has what she needs to be a great mother.
What truly matters is ensuring our health, the baby’s health, and maintaining a strong bond with Ken,” she stated in the video. “We are progressing in a constructive manner.

On the 8th of April, 2024, I chose to initiate a divorce procedure against my spouse Ryan, as per records I’ve acquired from the courts and confirmed by TMZ. This decision was made approximately two years following our July 2022 matrimonial vows exchanged within prison walls.
By early May 2024, several weeks after filing for divorce, Gypsy declared that she had reconciled with her former fiancé, Ken Urker. To confirm their renewed relationship, she posted a compilation video of their sweet moments on TikTok the very next month.
In her video, Gypsy described her love story with Ken as “legendary.”
When someone, referencing their earlier remarks about ex-Ryan, seized the moment to inquire about Ken in a somewhat explicit manner through comments, Gypsy promptly and honestly addressed the query.
