Lauryn Bosstick‘s remarks on fertility are raising eyebrows.
Following the Skinny Confidential founder, now expecting her and husband Michael Bosstick’s third child, discussed her dedication to chronicling her pregnancy journey. However, fans criticized her for labeling discussions about fertility struggles as merely “fearful experiences.” Many also pointed out why they found this characterization to be disrespectful.
One user posted, “It wasn’t the fact that you mentioned getting pregnant right away [in a clip from The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast on TikTok] that was the issue. It was more about the suggestion that simply ‘believing you will get pregnant’ is enough to actually conceive.
The commenter pointed out that it’s not universally true, as is often the case. Sincerely, those who are women facing infertility.
Someone emphasized the significance of supporting and elevating every fertility experience, particularly those that are challenging.
For quite some time, they had difficulty conceiving,” they confided, “yet all I ever seemed to hear were stories of effortless pregnancies by others. It’s relatively recent that discussing infertility has become more common.
Lauryn, mother to four-year-old Zaza and two-year-old Townes, offered some insights about the ease with which she and Michael conceived and stressed the importance of sharing their positive experiences.
Lauryn clarified during her podcast interview with Shannon Ford Middleton on May 22nd that she easily conceived all three of her children on the first attempt. She stated this not as a boast, but to avoid giving others the impression that it was an easy feat.
She went on to explain, “I’m sharing this with you that such tales are out there.” People tend not to discuss it as they’re all quite apprehensive about mentioning it – afraid they might unsettle someone due to their fear of causing distress.
Instead of saying, “The 39-year-old continued to assert that if nobody reveals their ‘remarkable tales’ due to concern about hurting others’ feelings, then all we’ll be left with consuming is,” you could also say, “The 39-year-old persistently argued that if individuals refrain from sharing their ‘extraordinary experiences’ because they’re afraid of causing offense, all we’ll end up getting is.
To which Shannon chimed in with “the negativity,” before calling it “fear mongering.”
Echoing the sentiment, Lauryn added, “it’s fearful experiences.”
She went on to explain, “I chose to share my thoughts because I want a 22-year-old who doesn’t want children until she’s older to understand that they don’t have to fear pregnancy complications like miscarriage at an early age.
TopMob News has reached out to Lauryn and Shannon’s reps for comment but has not heard back.
