Prince Harry Loses UK Court Battle Over Royal Security—What Happens Now?

Prince Harry’s legal fight has ended.

Initially, Harry had submitted an application to overturn a previous ruling which supported the U.K. government’s decision to withdraw his security protection (as arranged by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee). However, on the 3rd of May, these three judges decided against his plea and rejected the appeal instead.

Although judges Lord Justice David Bean, Lord Justice Andrew Edis, and Sir Geoffrey Vos acknowledged that Harry’s counsel presented strong and emotional arguments, and it was clear that Prince Harry felt mistreated by the system, they could not find a legal basis in his feelings of grievance to challenge RAVEC’s decision. (Documents obtained by NBC News show this.)

Initially, Harry’s protective service was reduced following their choice to step down as active members of the royal family with Meghan Markle in 2021, which also involved moving their children, Archie (aged 5) and Lilibet (3), to the U.S. However, since then, Harry has been striving to reinstate his security service whenever he visits the country.

In their ruling, the judges commented, “From Prince Harry’s perspective, it appears there might have been an unforeseen issue. Specifically, by choosing to step away from Royal duties and reside predominantly overseas, he has received a more customized, yet generally reduced, level of protection compared to when he was in the UK.

“But that did not,” they ruled, “of itself, give rise to a legal complaint.”

TopMob News has reached out to reps for Harry for comment but has not yet heard back.

Before the ruling, I, being an ardent supporter, was anxiously awaiting the verdict as Harry’s legal squad presented compelling written evidence to the court. As reported by NBC News, this documentation asserted that Harry was born with an inherent security risk that would persist for his entire life.

As a devoted admirer speaking here, I can confirm that the contribution made public by the media stated that he had served not one but two tours in the war-torn lands of Afghanistan. Furthermore, his family has been under the chilling shadow of well-publicized neo-Nazi and extremist threats in recent times.

As reported by NBC News, Sir Vos stated in court that when Prince Harry decided to relocate to the United States, it was akin to him exiting and re-entering the protective circle offered by RAVEC.

Beyond the U.K., he didn’t fit into the group, but within the U.K., his security measures would be deemed suitable based on the situation,” the judge explained. “I found it impossible to argue that this reasoning was irrational or inadequate. In fact, it appeared reasonable.
