Prince Harry Reveals “Central Piece” of Rift With Royal Family

As a dedicated fan of Prince Harry, I cannot help but feel deeply saddened and infuriated by the ongoing saga between him and the British tabloids. The Duke of Sussex’s experiences with intrusive and illegal journalism have left an indelible mark on his life and family, driving a painful rift within the royal family.

Prince Harry says the British tabloids are more than a royal pain.

The Duke of Sussex attributes the deep divide between him and the royal family, including his father, King Charles III, and brother, Prince William, to the relentless intrusion of the tabloids and his family’s passive response towards it.

The father of Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana, who is Harry and Meghan Markle, shared his thoughts with ITV’s Rebecca Barry during their documentary “Tabloids on Trial.” He expressed, “I believe that’s an essential part of it,” but added that discussing his family often leads to intense criticism from the media.

The new show explores the 2011 phone hacking scandal, during which Harry was among the victims of unlawful hacking and eavesdropping by prominent U.K. tabloids dating back to the 1990s and 2000s. Since then, the 39-year-old has filed lawsuits against various British publishing firms, such as News Group Newspapers and Mirror Group Newspapers.

Harry expressed his strong opinion to ITV, saying, “It’s important that we do this as a family.” From a duty perspective and considering our public roles, I strongly believe we ought to carry out this task for the greater benefit of all. I’m taking this step for my personal reasons.

As an obsessed fan, I can’t help but share my take on this intriguing turn of events. The father-of-three, who is married to the beloved Kate Middleton, reportedly struck a deal in order to prevent a royal family member from having to testify in court and relive the painful details of the surreptitiously obtained voicemails. According to Harry’s legal team, uncovered documents reveal that I, Harry, was initially unable to bring my case before a judge due to my brother’s clandestine agreement.

Harry asserted, as reported, that the agreement had been approved by his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, during its implementation. The continuing arrangement aimed to minimize potential lawsuits from the royal family.

He remarked that the events that have unfolded have made it clear to everyone what the real situation is, regarding his family’s decision not to support him in this endeavor. Personally, I will carry on with my mission, but unfortunately, it has led to a division between us.

In April 2023, during a lawsuit versus News Group Newspapers, Harry’s lawyers accused the Rupert Murdoch-owned company in court of having privately reached a settlement with Prince William, according to court papers acquired by Reuters.

Harry’s lawyers argued in documents obtained by NBC News that Harry couldn’t initiate his court case initially because of a clandestine deal between his brother and the other party, which prevented a royal family member from having to testify about the private and sensitive voicemails that had been intercepted and revealed in the documents concerning the dad of three, who is married to Kate Middleton.

Harry asserted, as reported, that the agreement had been approved by his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and was currently in effect, thereby potentially forestalling further legal disputes with the royal family.

In a different legal case between Harry and Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), he managed to secure two wins for himself.

During a hearing on February 9th, David Sherborne, Harry’s lawyer, declared that Harry and MGN had come to an agreement. Under the terms of this settlement, MGN would be responsible for covering Harry’s legal fees and damages, totaling 400,000 pounds ($505,000), which was an interim payment for infringing on Harry’s privacy through phone hacking and other unlawful surveillance, according to NBC News.

Two months ago, I received astonishing news: Harry was granted a staggering $177,000 in damages! A judge unearthed a shocking truth – phone hacking was rampant and routine at MGN during the ’90s and ’00s! And to make things even more infuriating, company executives concealed this despicable practice. As an ardent fan, it’s heart-wrenching to think that such invasive acts were allowed to happen under their watch.

“This morning, as the judge put it, we discovered and provided evidence of the Mirror Group’s deceitful practices over an extended period. They later tried to hide the truth.”
