As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen countless individuals use their platform to create positive change, but few do it as effectively and passionately as Prince Harry does. His commitment to mental health awareness is truly commendable, especially considering his own experiences and the public scrutiny he’s faced throughout his life.
Prince Harry is getting vulnerable.
In a moving address, the 40-year-old reaffirmed his dedication to fostering honest discussions on mental health issues, speaking before a gathering of Canadian youth.
He addressed the audience at Seaforth Armoury in Vancouver during the promotion of the 2025 Invictus Games on November 18, saying, “How many of you have faced personal challenges and had to overcome them independently, without assistance from loved ones?” He emphasized that it’s crucial to remember that even when circumstances seem unbearable, there is always a path towards recovery.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d like to express my personal views on the impact of social media, drawing an analogy from the experiences of a member of the British royal family. This individual, who is blessed with two delightful children, Archie (age 5) and Lilibet (age 3), together with his wife, Meghan Markle, has recently voiced concerns about the detrimental aspects of social media usage.
He wondered who among them were active on social media, and almost everyone showed they were. It seems everyone agrees that social media is like a two-sided weapon – a sentiment shared by all.
Harry went on, “Over time, we’ve reached a point where we can discuss this matter openly. Only a decade, or even just five years back, such conversations were often seen as signs of weakness. But when more people start to share their experiences, it becomes clear that we’re not so dissimilar.
Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, mentioned that engaging with the student gathering and disseminating the spirit of the Invictus Games – an initiative he launched in 2014 as a sports competition for wounded veterans – holds significant importance for him.
He mentioned that he’s meeting the children today, and witnessing them learn about the Invictus Games has left a deep impression on him. He explained this because the Invictus Games are beginning to expand beyond the Invictus community, reaching schools in Canada and potentially worldwide.
Besides catching the students off guard by offering them tickets to the 2025 Invictus Games happening in Whistler, Canada, in February, Prince Harry also motivated the crowd to feel for the competitors as they battle it out.
As a devoted supporter speaking to you all, particularly the young ones among us, let me encourage you to envision the feelings of those individuals. They’ve triumphed over tremendous obstacles just to be back with us, proudly displaying their nation’s symbol on their chest or arm. Can you imagine the thrill they experience as they step onto a stadium filled with tens of thousands of people, cheering them on?
He continued, “But, ultimately, it’s the crowd. It’s the audience. It’s all of us that provide the atmosphere for them.”
Harry emphasized once more that his aim was to encourage these contestants to disclose their personal experiences, and he appreciated their courage for being open about a tale that’s far from tragic; instead, it’s incredibly inspiring.
