Ubisoft has offered up the smallest of updates on the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.
In a social update, the creator shares they are still immersed in the project, being meticulously built by a dedicated team.
It’s not much to go on, but it at least is showing signs of life in the project.
Back in 2020, it was initially announced that a remake of the cherished action-adventure classic would be released. Unfortunately, when it was first unveiled, the response was largely unfavorable, primarily due to the less-than-impressive visual style.
Originally scheduled for release in January 2021 at a new studio, the launch got pushed back to March of the same year, and since then, there’s been no set release date.
By May 2023, it became clear that the remake project was being restarted, with Ubisoft Montreal now in charge of the development process, having replaced Ubisoft Pune.
Since Ubisoft Toronto was brought on board for assistance, there has been an unusual silence about the game. The only information available is that it aims to be released in 2026.
It’s hoped that Ubisoft will reveal more details soon, as fans have been patiently waiting for over four and a half years and are starting to feel anxious.
The series has not remained stagnant; it made a significant move last year with the launch of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, an exceptional release. The upcoming title, The Rogue Prince of Persia, is set to debut shortly, and console editions are yet to follow.
