As a long-time fan of the Prince of Persia series, I must admit that I was both excited and hopeful when I heard about the release of “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown“. However, my heart sank when I learned that the game failed to meet Ubisoft’s sales expectations.
Despite receiving high praise as one of the standout games of the year, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown did not achieve the sales figures that Ubisoft anticipated.
According to a recent report by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, it’s been suggested that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has only sold around one million copies since its launch in January, but Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed these sales figures officially yet.
According to Henderson, Ubisoft anticipated that the game would quickly sell numerous copies, on par with popular Metroidvania games, but unfortunately, it didn’t reach the company’s projected sales figures.
In its initial release period, there were reports indicating that the game “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown” had sold roughly 300,000 copies, despite receiving broad praise from critics.
More recently, it’s been shared that the development team behind “The Lost Crown” has been dissolved following a proposal for a sequel being turned down. It is rumored that the members responsible for creating “The Lost Crown” have been shifted to various other projects, such as a remake of “Rayman.” You can find more details about this here.
