Approximately a year ago, Ubisoft unveiled Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Crown, an exceptional platformer in the Metroidvania genre. Regrettably, it didn’t meet the publisher’s desired success.
Although the game received positive feedback, it failed to generate significant sales, resulting in the team being reassigned to different Ubisoft initiatives.
It appears that the sales figures for the game were revealed, possibly due to a Ubisoft employee’s LinkedIn account (which has since disappeared).
According to user Timur222’s observation, the account of a Marketing Director indicated that The Lost Crown had achieved sales of more than 1.3 million units within its initial year.
It appears this number is quite acceptable, yet evidently, it fell short of what the publisher aimed to achieve internally.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed that Ubisoft has faced some tough times recently. Over the past year or so, they’ve launched several games that didn’t quite hit the mark, like XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws. These were projects I thought would be home runs, but unfortunately, they didn’t resonate with gamers as expected.
