As someone who has closely followed the lives of these esteemed figures, I must say that it is both heartening and concerning to see such significant changes unfolding in their lives. The Duchess of York’s diagnosis with malignant melanoma serves as a stark reminder of the importance of regular health checks, a lesson we all should heed.
Prince Harry got a royal surprise for a milestone birthday: Public well-wishes from his family.
On his 40th birthday, September 15, both Prince William and King Charles III, his brother and father respectively, posted similar tributes to him. This comes after a three-year absence of any mention of him on their social media platforms due to a family disagreement.
On the Royal family’s Instagram, they posted, “Sending warm wishes to The Duke of Sussex as he celebrates his 40th birthday today!” Meanwhile, William and Kate Middleton expressed their well-wishes on their Instagram Stories, saying, “Happy 40th Birthday to the Duke of Sussex!
They made their initial birthday homage to Harry this year, following the trend set in 2021 when they extended their greetings to him via the platform that was then known as Twitter.
On their Instagram Story, Prince William and Duchess Kate reposted a picture originally shared by the Royal family, which was taken in July 2018 at DogPatch Labs – a tech startup hub in Dublin, Ireland, where Prince Harry could be seen smiling.
Two months following the Duke’s marriage to Meghan Markle, the photo was captured. In less than two years, they declared their intent to relinquish their roles as senior royals.
The departure of the couple from the monarchy in 2020, followed by their move to the United States, created a significant divide between Harry and his royal family. As time went on, the disagreements deepened due to remarks they made about their relatives in the media and the publication of Harry’s controversial memoir, “Spare,” in 2023.
Harry attributes the main causes of the family divide to the harsh media scrutiny from British tabloids and his family’s reluctance to support him in his legal battles against these publications regarding their unflattering portrayals of himself and his spouse.
Occasionally, despite their strained relationship with the British royal family, Harry and Meghan have made trips back to the United Kingdom.
In February of this year, Harry traveled to London to see his ailing father, who had recently been diagnosed with cancer. It was subsequently revealed by Kate that she too had been battling cancer, and just last week she declared that she had successfully finished her course of chemotherapy.
2023 saw Harry participating in Charles’ coronation ceremony. However, unlike William, he chose a secluded area during the event and decided not to join the family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace following the service, preferring instead to depart for the airport. The year prior, both Harry and Meghan were part of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022, just days after Harry celebrated his 38th birthday.
Harry recently shared his thoughts on turning 40.
Harry expressed that while he felt apprehensive at the age of 30, he now feels energized and excited at 40. Regardless of his age, his objective remains to persistently make a positive impact on the world.
As a devoted follower, I myself can share that the duke, who is blessed with children Archie, aged 5, and Lilibet, aged 3, together with Meghan, has expressed his intentions to celebrate his birthday with his cherished family first, before embarking on a joyful trip with a few close friends to mark the occasion.
Having two exceptionally kind and amusing children has provided me with a renewed outlook on life, while also enhancing my dedication in all my endeavors,” he continued. “Being a father is one of life’s most rewarding experiences, and it has only fueled my determination to improve the world around us.
