As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say, the unveiling of Project ETHOS by 2K Games and 31st Union has truly caught my eye. With Michael Condrey, a veteran from Sledgehammer Games and Visceral Games, at the helm, I’m expecting nothing less than an exhilarating gaming experience.
2K Games, along with 31st Union – a studio established by Michael Condrey (previously of Sledgehammer Games and Visceral Games), have unveiled Project ETHOS. This is an engaging free-to-play third-person hero shooter incorporating roguelike aspects, set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. At the moment, a specific release date remains undisclosed.
The title offers two modes: Trials and Gauntlet. The former consists of matches against AI enemies and other players, where three-player teams collect and extract cores. These can then be used to receive Augments for future Trials runs. When your hero levels up during a Trial, they can unlock new abilities and passives.
Gauntlet refers to a round-robin style competition where numerous teams engage in the Team Deathmatch mode. While it may be less complex than the Trials format, it provides a more traditional player versus player (PvP) experience.
From October 17th to 20th, a community playtest for PC is open in countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain. You can find the specific dates and times by clicking here. If you register and don’t get selected this time, don’t worry – you’ll be prioritized for future playtests.
