Sony has increased the library of games that can be streamed on its PS Portal handheld device, now including more than 50 classic titles from both the PS1 and PSP consoles. This is great news for PS Plus Premium members as they can now play these games directly on their peripheral, even without owning a PS5.
Some notable PlayStation classics, such as Wild Arms, Everyone’s Golf, and Twisted Metal, are among the games offered. These games utilize Sony’s emulation technology, allowing for modern conveniences like saving progress at any point, rewinding gameplay, and in many instances, earning Trophies.
This recent update to the PS Plus Premium collection doesn’t feature all PS1 and PSP games, as certain third-party titles such as Disney Pixar’s Up and Worms Armageddon are not included. However, it does cover a significant portion of them.
It’s clear that other methods exist for playing classic retro games on handheld devices, but Sony, a major Japanese company, has been continually expanding its offerings of playable games on its streaming platform, the PlayStation Portal. This not only enhances the usefulness of this popular accessory, but it also hints at potential future support for emulated PlayStation 2 games as well.
