Sony has updated Patapon and Patapon 2 for the PlayStation 4, but the third game in the series has not yet appeared. However, it seems that situation may change soon with the next update to PS Plus Premium, as a patch for Patapon 3 on both PS5 and PS4 has been detected on Sony’s servers by Gematsu.
It’s highly probable that the new version of the game will employ PSP emulation, making it likely to be included in the upcoming PS Plus Premium update. This announcement is expected to take place on Wednesday at 8:30AM Pacific Time/4:30PM Greenwich Mean Time.
First introduced for the PSP in 2011, Patapon 3 often gets overlooked within the series due to its expanded campaign and emphasis on ‘Uberhero’ characters. However, it maintains the delightful rhythm-based gameplay that the franchise is known for, making it a great choice for fans of the series.
In this new version, you may notice the absence of the multiplayer mode, a significant aspect in the original game that offered both competitive battles and cooperative play. Typically, Sony’s emulated games lack online functionality, so it’s unlikely that you’ll find this feature in this reissued game.
