15 years past its original release, an unanticipated update has been given to the Star Wars game for PlayStation 2 from 2006. In the year 2006, there were numerous remarkable titles such as Wii Sports, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Gears of War, Bully, Saints Row, New Super Mario Bros, Guitar Hero II, Company of Heroes, Okami, Final Fantasy XII, Rainbow Six: Vegas, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Prey, Resistance, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, and a multitude of other outstanding games that were launched in what proved to be a rich gaming calendar.
For enthusiasts of Star Wars, the year in question saw a continuation of their gaming excitement, as it was one year after the release of Star Wars: Battlefront II. Many were still engrossed in this timeless classic a year later. Additionally, that same year brought a treat for Star Wars fans with the arrival of Star Wars: LEGO Star Wars II – The Original Trilogy. When TT Games launched the LEGO Star Wars game, they made it available across various platforms. PlayStation enthusiasts will recognize it from the PS2 and PSP, but mainly the PS2 was where it shone brightest.
Few people might be aware, but Star Wars: Lego Star Wars II – The Original Trilogy was launched back in 2024 for PS4 and PS5 systems. You can find it on the PlayStation Store priced at $14.99, or if you’re a PS Plus Premium subscriber, it’s available for free. This is the highest tier of PS Plus, offering access to a collection of classic PlayStation games.
A year ago, the re-release of this timeless game took place. However, it’s only this week that an exciting update has been rolled out, significantly introducing trophies into the game, including a coveted Platinum Trophy for dedicated trophy collectors to chase after.
The game you find on the PlayStation Store, which can be accessed with PS Plus Premium, is in fact the PSP version, even if the differences between this version and the PS2 version are relatively small.
Lately, Sony PlayStation has been consistently adding trophies to games originally released on PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP, which have been remastered through the PS Plus Classics service. This change might appear unconnected, but it’s all part of enhancing your gaming experience!
Indeed, since Star Wars: LEGO Star Wars II – The Original Trilogy was a game for PlayStation 2 and PSP, back in the day when it first came out 19 years ago, trophies weren’t available yet. Trophies only became part of the gaming experience with the introduction of the PS3 generation.
