PS3’s Resistance Games Not Playable on PS5, PS4 at All After Just 6 Months

Sony has revealed plans for another PS Plus purge coming up next month, much like what happened back in May 2024. This means that 22 titles from PS5, PS4, and Classic consoles will be removed from the service. However, there’s an unexpected twist: some PS3 games available through PS Plus Premium are also being affected by this update.

The situation is already unfortunate, but it gets worse: After the 20th of May, 2025, neither Resistance: Fall of Man nor Resistance 2 will be playable on PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4.

The two PS3 games offered as classics are exclusive to PS Plus Premium, meaning you can only stream them instead of buying a digital copy and downloading it like you can with the PS1 and PS2 titles available on PS Plus Premium.

Ever since Resistance 1 and 2 joined the service in November 2024, they’ve been around for just half a year before vanishing. Once they’re gone, I regret to say that you won’t be able to enjoy them at all on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 anymore.

In the past, removals of first-party games from PS Plus have been infrequent, with only a handful like the Horizon series being taken down. However, it’s important to note that you can still purchase these games through the PlayStation Store. Unfortunately, this won’t be an option when Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 are removed next month. Once they’re gone, you won’t be able to play them on PS5 or PS4 anymore.

For the moment, both Resistance 3 and Resistance Retribution continue to be part of the PS Plus Premium service. This decision follows a general increase in prices across the various PS Plus subscription plans in numerous regions around the world.
