Among the first to implement this price rise was Best Buy, setting the DualSense at $74.99 and $79.99, followed swiftly by GameStop, Target, and even Sony’s PlayStation Direct marketplace. However, not all stores have adopted this new pricing yet, with Amazon still using the previous rates. It’s likely that this won’t last for long.
At present, Sony has not released a formal explanation for raising the price of the DualSense controller. It seems plausible that this move is due to inflation and broader economic issues, as Sony recently announced an increase in the cost of the PS5 in Japan. However, it’s important to note that the same price hike has not been confirmed for other regions.
