PS5 Fans Discover Trick That Instantly Improves the Console

As a seasoned gamer with decades of console wars under my belt, I must admit, the latest customization update for the PS5 has been a breath of fresh air. Comparing it to its predecessor, the PS4, I can’t help but feel that Sony has been a bit stingy in terms of customization options – at least until now!

A devoted PlayStation user recently unveiled and spread a clever trick that significantly enhances the performance of their Sony gaming system. Unlike the PS4, the PS5 currently offers relatively few personalization features. Since its debut in 2020, Sony has incorporated some additional options, but it still falls short compared to what was available on the PS4. However, a recent update introduced some customization possibilities for the home screen of the PS5.

For PS5 users, one beneficial feature they can utilize is customizable widgets. By adjusting these widgets, PlayStation enthusiasts can enhance the appearance of their home screen. More precisely, it’s now possible to place your widgets at the bottom of the screen instead of being fixed to the left side. This option was introduced with the recent update to the Welcome Hub interface.

By default, there are a minimum of three widgets positioned on the left side of the screen, but they can be moved to the bottom. According to the PS5 Reddit page, initially, you will have nine widgets – select the three you prefer and six additional random ones. To move these widgets, use the square button. Arrange them so that your preferred three are at the bottom of each row. Once arranged, disable the unwanted widgets, leaving only the three positioned at the bottom as desired. The end configuration should resemble the image provided below.

It’s uncertain if Sony will make further updates to the PS5 dashboard; the recent Welcome Hub update might be the final one, given we’re roughly halfway through the console’s lifecycle. Notably, most of the changes made to the PS4 dashboard occurred during its first half. This implies that this could be all the adjustments and enhancements Sony plans for the PS5 dashboard.
