Sony has revealed new sales data for the PlayStation 5 in its latest quarterly financial statement, bringing the total number of units sold globally to 77.8 million as of March 31, 2024-25 – a rise from 75 million shipped worldwide at the end of the previous year.
During the last three months of their financial year, which spans from January to March, Sony managed to distribute 2.8 million PS5 consoles globally. This is a decrease compared to the 4.5 million units shipped in the final quarter of the preceding fiscal year. The total number of PS5s shipped throughout the entire financial year amounted to 18.5 million units worldwide, also showing a drop when compared to the 20.8 million units shipped in the previous financial year.
Despite a drop in hardware sales during the past year, PlayStation managed to boost its software sales. In the final quarter of the financial year 25-26, the PS4 and PS5 together sold approximately 76.1 million software units, which is an increase from the 72.6 million units sold in Q4 of the previous fiscal year, 23-24. For the full financial year, total software sales amounted to 303.3 million units, a rise compared to the 286.4 million units sold in the previous fiscal year.
